What does ectopic pregnancy pain feel like?

Hi everyone, looking for any real-life examples of this as I'm struggling to find information elsewhere

Can someone who has been through one describe the pain associated with an ectopic pregnancy?

I'm 6 weeks and for the last 5 days I've been having absolutely agonising stomach, hip and back pain. It starts in the back, then it radiates around to stomach and hips. It's not on one side, it's all over. It feels a bit like constipation and the pain in the stomach gets reeeeally bad when I try and poo..

Every website says bowel movement pain is associated with ectopics, but it doesn't say what kind of pain that is?

I've already called midwife this week and didn't get very far. Any insights?

Thanks everyone

Hello,

I’d call 111 - they were really helpful for me, got me booked in with the EPAU for a scan. I think pains can vary from twingy early on to absolutely agonising when things get serious (the girl in the bed next to me had passed out when it came on)

FWIW pain all over doesn’t sound to me like an ectopic so not trying to spook you at all! But best to get checked out if you’re at all concerned and I found 111 the most helpful for that

Wishing you the best of luck!

I had an ectopic a few years ago, one of my first symptoms was feeling constipated and weird pain. This pain was on and off for a few weeks and even when it ruptured I didn’t get it on one side. Have you had any bleeding? I’d recommend going to your GP or even A&E to rule it out, they can refer you for scan and bloods doing. Fingers crossed that it turns out to be nothing for you x

thank you for both replies - 111 sounds sensible. I haven't had any bleeding but the weird hip and back pain is still an issue (although could of course be due to constipation as much as anything else- isn't early pregnancy a lark)

Sorry to hear of your experiences @Dreamcatcher20, that must have been scary.

Prune juice bleeding, then nothing till I was curled a ball sobbing with pain. I was already in hospital by that point, but got shifted onto the emergency theatre list.

@Noicant i had this last night for a couple of hours but I’ve woken up today feeling ok again. Would the symptoms/pain carry on?
