Initially I craved biscuits and coke. I managed to change this to nut butters on crackers and sparkling water. Maybe try find a healthier alternative to what you're craving?

Despite eating unbelievable amounts of nut butter, I didn't gain any weight other than my bump. Fat is a better burner than sugar in my opinion

Hello, I am 33 weeks and I had the same problem from the start to about 25 weeks. I spoke to my midwife and said I was worried and she said to me that any food is better than no food! But now I have an iron deficiency and from the results I've been told I'm going to have to be on iron tablets for months after baby is here :(

To try to get fruit and veg in my diet cause when I got pregnant it put me off majorly (I even think about leeks and I want to vomit all over) I make hidden veg pasta sauces etc, literally grated carrots in a Bolognese is a lifesaver and don't know if it helps but I use water that veg has been boiled in for gravy, this was helpful when I was craving mashed potato and gravy! Also I have found that the innocent kids smoothies are good they taste like orange juice!

The baby will take all the nutrients it can from you so I wouldn't worry about it too much - from what I understand the baby will be okay but it will probably be you who doesn't feel good because the baby will have 'leeched' everything it needs from you (a word a midwife used to describe why my iron was so low!) You could always take a multivitamin if you're worried?

@Flowersforyou I ate healthy during my pregnancy (not being smug! Just I felt okay!) And I still ended up with really low iron so don't beat yourself up. Maybe it's just one of those things for some people.

I had hyperemesis and pretty much the only thing I could stomach during pregnancy was Heinz Tomato soup so that's what I ate (with a multivitamin) Dd was fine although we do joke that that's why she has red hair and everyone else brown.

You wont do any damage dont worry about it. Your body and the baby KNOW what they need and thats what you're 'craving' . Just follow your body

@Flowerbug1994 I'm 1 week ahead of you and feel the same. I just can't get down healthy food and feel really guilty. Some weeks I've bought loads of healthy food and it ends up in the bin cause I just can't stomach it. This isn't a particularly helpful post but just know you aren't the only one

Wildrobin · 06/12/2021 12:59

Definitely don’t feel guilty and there might be little changes you can make that still help? - eg can you cope with taking Omega 3 /6 pregnancy capsules if you aren’t able to eat fish (I’ve seen low mercury fish is recommended twice a week but other than herring often I haven’t managed and swallow pills instead!)
You really won’t be alone and a pregnancy vitamin might be good if you aren’t still taking one already .

Are there other ways you can add nutrient-dense foods in a way you can cope with - I’ve been grinding mixed seeds to add to yoghurt or cereal as they are full of goodness apparently . And I make smoothies with this too and frozen berries/ fresh mango etc .
