Baby aspirin causing spotting/bleeding?

I'm 8 weeks pregnant. I've had 3 previous MC's.
I have a blood clotting condition so this time I'm on Clexane - blood thinning injections.
My fertility clinic (IVF) advised me to also start 150mg baby aspirin per day to give an 'extra boost' along with the Clexane.
This morning I had some spotting. I've read that this can be caused by the aspirin so it's really worried me.
Has anyone had this combination before and how was it? Thank you.

Just wanted to offer support. I've taken aspirin in combo with cleanse in several pregnancies but not until after 12 weeks. In my last pregnancy (following 3 consecutive mcs) I had spotting at 4.5 weeks and 10 weeks and all was fine. Generally it seems to be the case that if the spitting is brown it's nothing to worry about, if it stops it's generally nothing to worry about and a cause isn't usually found. Keeping everything crossed for you!!

Clexane not cleanse!!

Thank you for your reply.
I can't help but think the worst. I will ring the clinic first thing in the morning to see if it's possible to have a scan to check everything is ok.
DP is trying to reassure me that things are fine but I just can't help thinking that something is wrong. I also didn't feel sick last night which is the first time in weeks that I haven't.
I'm so worried and anxious.

I was on Clexane and aspirin til 12 weeks and I had no spotting at all, and then came off only to have a massive bleed after a week. No idea if the two are related but for
Me I didn’t have any spotting of any kind until after I had come off Clexane and aspirin (was also on two types of progesterone)

Gosh that must have been scary for you.
I am also on progesterone and wondered if I'd aggravated something when using the applicator to insert it.
The Clexane and aspirin, they've told me to stay on for the whole of the pregnancy.

Sorry @mowglika This comment was for you but I forgot to type your username.

Can't comment on the aspirin/ clexane but I used progesterone in my last pregnancy and it can irritate your cervix which may cause spotting. To prevent this I used them rectally plus no waxy discharge to worry about x

Thank you @boymum88
I'm on Utrogestan so those ones can only go in vaginally as far as I'm aware. When I used to be on cyclogest, I was told you could insert them either way. But these ones I don't think you can. I do use an applicator to insert far into the vagina so I do wonder if I aggravated something that way.

Plenty of people do get spotting throughout pregnancy and it leads to nothing, fingers crossed if you have no cramps or backaches it’s less likely to mean something sinister.

I still have brown spotting now which may be due to cervical ectropian which I was told I had during my last pregnancy. Do you have anything like that?

RainbowHope4 · 06/12/2021 08:44

@mowglika
As far as I'm aware I don't have cervical ectropian. Because I've had IVF I've been checked for all sorts over the years so I think this would have come up.
I had lower backache the night before I had the spotting which then eased off the next day. I'm going to be phoning the fertility clinic today to see what they advise. I'm hoping they'll say I can have a scan to double check everything is ok. As I have had a missed miscarriage before where the same thing happened.
There was a little bit of brown blood. But all my pregnancy symptoms were still there. And it was later at a scan I found out the baby had died. So I don't want to wait until 12 weeks to find that out if that is the case.

I just wanted to come on with an update.
Since the weekend when I had the brown spotting, I also lost all of my pregnancy symptoms. I stopped feeling sick and breast tenderness disappeared as well.

I've also had really bad lower backache for 4 days which lasts most of the day and night in bed. So I thought the absolute worst and have been worrying that I'd had another MC.

I went for a scan today at my fertility clinic and all is well!
The baby is fine and their little heart was beating away. I am still in shock as I really thought the worst was happening.

The consultant said there's no bleeding in my uterus so they're not sure what the reason was for the bleed on Saturday.
So I'm really pleased, and just wanted to let you all know. And to thank you for all your comments previously. 🌸
