19 weeks and expected bump to be showing more by now

So I'm just an over thinker in general life, add pregnancy into the mix and my head is working triple time some days.

So i was 19 weeks yesterday. I have a small bump which I would describe as showing like I've just eaten a good meal. And im carrying very low down in my opinion. Top of my stomach is still flat somewhat. My partner says he can see a difference but I can't as much. This is my 5th pregnancy, but I've got no living children. Stillbirth at 24 weeks with identical twins, then 4 early miscarriages that didn't progress past week 9.

I've had a comment in work of "you should be bigger if you're having a girl" (we found out at 16 weeks we were having a little girl) we had a private scan last week also as my anxiety got to me a little and baby girl was on track, scan was at 18 weeks and baby girl was weighing 126g which is 7oz I believe? But I just keep thinking where is she hiding in there?

At this stage it is normal to not have a prominent bump, baby is still tiny and low down. I’m sorry about your previous losses Flowers

Fupoffyagrasshole · 04/12/2021 14:16

I was 30 weeks last Christmas Day and was recently looking at photos and my bump was absolutely tiny - again like you just like I ate too much 😂

I really didn’t get much bigger til closer to the end

I wouldn’t worry x

ParkheadParadise · 04/12/2021 14:18

I didn't find out I was pregnant with Dd2 until I was 5 months. I did mention that my size 10 jeans were feeling tight. I didn't really show much with her until I was 7 months, then I was still very neat.
She was 6lb 5oz

Caspianberg · 04/12/2021 14:18

You could really barely see anything at 19 weeks when I was pregnant. I was size 8 still.

It appeared slowly between 20-30 weeks, but didn’t grow much until after 30 weeks.
Ds was 8lb8 born so not small either.

I don’t think many show much before 20 weeks

MissH995 · 04/12/2021 14:25

A lot of people I know are pregnant and they are sporting lovely round bumps and it is slightly getting to me a bit as to why I'm just flabby😂 and the comment in work just stuck in my head🥴

I am 5ft3, I was about 10 stone and a bit pre pregnancy (let's blame lockdown weight) size 10-12 and I'm heavy busted in general. 34G pre pregnancy so let's all think of my back in this time🙃 I weighed myself last night and I'm exactly 11 stone now

If it's your first, that sounds normal to me. I announced my pregnancy to my work colleagues at 21/22 weeks and most of them didn't believe me as I just looked the same.

Odile13 · 04/12/2021 14:32

It does sound normal to me OP. I told people at work at around 5/6 months and nobody had noticed I was pregnant. I had a small bump and didn’t actually gain much weight in pregnancy at all and I was absolutely fine and so was DD.

I’m so sorry to read about your previous pregnancies - you’ve really been through it and I know it makes subsequent pregnancies very hard going. (I had 3 mcs before DD). Wishing you all the best.

JustWonderingIfYou · 04/12/2021 14:35

I don't expect a bump at 19 weeks with a first. I know she's not your first first but your stomach hasn't been stretched to full term before. Only very skinny ladies or ladies piling on the pounds seem to show that soon. Most average women can hide the foetus for quite a while. She'll pop out in a couple of weeks, don't worry.

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 04/12/2021 14:45

Hi 👋

This is me at 20w and at around 8m 🙂as you can see, barely any bump at 20w! Everything was fine with pregnancy and son was 8lb 4oz.

@JustWonderingIfYou yes, that's what I keep trying to tell myself. This pregnancy is sort of like my first as everything is going to plan as of right now. So it's a first for me in that aspect. It's just a lot mentally I think and that's something I need to deal with. I think approaching the 24 week mark is getting to me. And of course my 20 week scan in over a week is slightly dawning on me

I’m around 20 weeks in both of these pictures. Left is DD1 (8lb 6oz at 40+5) and right is DD2 (8lb 2oz at 40+2).

Hey! I'm 24+3 weeks pregnant and I just look like I've at too much Chinese whereas all other mums I see have proper bumps.

I have a growth scan soon, which I can't wait for but Baby was measuring fine at 20 weeks.

Would much prefer to look pregnant in my clothes rather than just my fat hanging out 🙄

CustardGoodJamGoodMeatGood · 04/12/2021 15:17

I'm currently 20 weeks with my 2nd DD. I was bloody huge all the way through with DD1, this time I have only recently started wearing maternity jeans and you can hardly tell (and thats with a girl so same as you!)

Timeforwinterclothes · 04/12/2021 15:29

Nobody noticed that I was pregnant until 21 weeks. It was a twin pregnancy, so I was bigger than my previous pregnancies. One had died in utero before 21 weeks though.

Epli · 04/12/2021 19:00

I only started really showing at 21w. It just popped up overnight, not sure why :D

Lorw · 04/12/2021 23:01

I didn’t get a bump till 34 weeks 😁 was literally in my normal jeans till then and it just appeared overnight 😂

BobbleWobble1 · 05/12/2021 09:33

I've never carried big even second time. Both boys. I'm petite build. I always think there's too much pressure for your bump to look a certain way and people seem to think it's totally ok to comment on it without realising that it can cause a lot of anxiety even if that's not the intention.

For context, I got my hair cut yesterday and the hairdresser didn't realise I'm pregnant. I'm nearly 35 weeks. Still don't know where I hide it. DS was 7lb12oz so by no means small.

MissH995 · 05/12/2021 10:52

Reading all of these replies and seeing your pictures has really reassured me ladies. And I totally agree with the comments people make, they might say them with no ill intent but sometimes words left unspoken are the best words. Everyone grows differently. Even non pregnant, you wouldn't go up to a person and say "should you be that big or should you be that small"

The joys. I'm sure I'll have something new to worry about soon🙈😂 it's been a long journey to get here

I didn't have a bump until 20+ weeks, and my sister was horrified as she was huge by then. I hadn't felt any movements either but all measuring good and wriggling away at my scan. People are different and need to keep their mouths shut.

I'm 22 weeks now and when I've had a big meal I look quite pregnant but in general you can't really tell. I also don't wear tight fitting clothes so you can't see my tummy anyway (didn't actually realise this about my wardrobe preferences until recently but everything I own is box shaped- boxy tshirts, loose shirts ets- which is actually hugely unflattering now as my boobs are suddenly enormous so I just look generally big).

Anyway, it's fine!

allfurcoatnoknickers · 09/12/2021 02:37

I started at 5'3 and 9st8 and just looked like I'd been at the tacos until I was gone 30 weeks. Pretty sure this is week 29/30.

I had to go for extra growth scans because I measured so small, but DS came out a robust 7.5lbs. It was fine!
