Scan dates 3 weeks behind

i went for an early scan in November thinking I was 6+3 only saw a gestational sac. They rescanned me 11 days later and saw it had grown and there was now a yolk sac. Been today another 11 days later and there is a fetal pole measuring 6 weeks 1 day but no heartbeat. I have to go back in 10 days for a final scan to check for a heartbeat. However the pole measurement puts me 3 weeks behind my lmp. I know they can be a little off but 3 weeks?!

trying to stay positive as there has been progress albeit slower than I thought but am I clutching at straws

Hello. Have the measurements been growing consistently between scans? So, from your first scan to the next one 11 days later, had the sac grown enough to correspond to roughly 11 days growth? Same with the next scan?

It's so hard to know. It is possible that you ovulated weeks later than you thought. I guess you can have a fair guess if you go by when you first had a positive pregnancy test as if you tested positive when you were, say 4 weeks (using your original timeline), then at your first scan you would have actually been 6+1 and so it doesn't look good.

I say that with kindness so as to not give false hope. It's so hard waiting between scans (I've been in your situation so know how hard it is) and I really hope it is a good outcome for you.

I don’t track ovulation etc as we weren’t even trying I know I didn’t ovulate at the standard 14 day point as if I had we wouldn’t be pregnant as we didn’t have sex anywhere close to that. So I must of ovulated late. Using my standard period would of usually been due 25th October it didn’t arrive I tested on 30th and that was negative I then tested 31st and got a faint positive so it’s all a bit unsure.

As for the progress between scans I’m not sure the lady doing it didn’t seem to worried as first scan was a tiny little gestational sac then second one this had grown and had a yolk sac there was also a 2nd empty smaller gestational sac. This 3rd scan there was a 5mm fetal pole and the gestational sac it was in was a lot bigger. The 2nd empty space had also grown but still empty. It’s all bizarre. I’m not getting my hopes up at this point
