@Somerandomgirl I did think this but I always wear gloves and haven’t had it before. So just wandered if anyone else had experienced it

Mine just from washing stuff /hands at home... exacrly on the top as in your picture... but keep an eye and if doesnt improve mention to gp. If from cold, as comparison, mine are itchy, dry, burn feeling when in water and get red instantly... better with cream

I had something similar, send an econsult off to my GP and he said it was contact dermatitis, probably from using anti bac hand gel. Gave me 1 week of low strength steroid cream and an ointment to use at night time and they are back to normal now.

Does it itch op? If not could well be as the others have said, are you using anything new (cleaning products, hand cream etc)?

Kt1111 · 02/12/2021 23:41

@Phoenix76 it really itches! I’ll call the doc just to get it checked :)

I have this, apparently skin gets more sensitive during pregnancy and prone to get dermatitis etc. However do mention to your midwife because they just checked my liver function at my next set of blood tests, because itchy hands can be cholastasis. It wasn't this for me, and probably won't be for you because it's meant to be palms and soles of feet mainly. But it's an easy add on to your next set of blood tests.

Using oil on my hands (rose hip, coconut or olive) and letting it soak in has really helped

How are you getting on? I’m really glad you’re checking with your gp. I only asked about the itching as it happened to me. Started with my hands, then feet and then it felt like everywhere! I was scratching so bad I made myself bleed. I told my midwife, showed her my rash and cuts from scratching but she completely dismissed it and said it was just hormones. I believed her. Anyway, it was discovered while I was in labour that I had OC (always caused by pregnancy). Luckily everything ended up fine but with my second pregnancy as soon as the itching started I was properly monitored and it was fine too. It’s probably more likely a reaction to something else but I’d never heard of OC and I wish I’d known about it.
