i am sat at work and my nipples have started to tingle. i have gone to the loo to take a look and have noticed a small light brown patch about the size of a 5p peice on my left bra cup. this is about the right place for leakage but it is only on one side and i did drink my tea this morning ina rush with just my bra and knickers on and could have dripped a bit. the patch is dry now. i have onlty got a cream top on. i really dont want to end up with patches at work. do you think its tea or is it the right colour for a leak. 33 weeks pg btw.

breast milk/colostrum is not brown....more likely you dripped tea on yourself and only noticed when you went to investigate the tingle.

i disagree and id say its milk. i leaked from about week 10, soemtimes it was pale brown. do you have breastpads? you can have disposible ones, but i used the washable ones, they are far softer. especially at night

I t does sound like tea but if you are worried about leaking buy some washable breast pads.

is it inside the bra cup?

pud1 · 17/12/2007 12:21

cant tell nailpolish as it has gone right through. only thin m and s maternity bras. i havent got any pads on me and there is no where to get em from near work. have stuffed tissue down. will have to keep my fingers crossed

Sounds like your colostrum kicking in pud1...hope you have now got some emergency pads in place!!
I am 25 weeks and started leaking colostrum but only at night from 22 weeks, was just the odd night but now its colostrum a go go, am going to have to pop to M&S to get a sports bra or something so I can wear it at night and pop a couple of pads in, what does anyone else do?

I've been wearing bra pads due to leaking colostrum (and tingling) since week 30 (week 37 now), but don't wear a bra at night as I just can't sleep in them. Having to wash my nightwear more often as a result. The patches can be clearish, very yellow or brownish. I think it is reassuring as I plan to breast feed- I have colostrum there in preparation!
