@clolo I've cancelled all my stuff but honestly it's mainly cause I can't be arsed. I'm not sure what I would do if I was actually up for it though.

@Haiyaa omg d-day is so soon! Can't believe baba was batting the scanner away 🤣. I had a brief look at scans back home but they seemed to purely be based on medical reasons. I also don't know if I'd want to do a scan without OH there.

Juno231 · 14/12/2021 22:08

@bez91 btw 1tsp baking soda in a glass of water was the only thing that helped my chronic utis. It neutralises the wee so it stops burning when you go to the loo. It's basically what all the cystitis sachets at boots are selling you for a lot more money x

paintfairy · 14/12/2021 22:17

@Minster2012 did you have to pay for the bauble? And 🤣 for the scan man. I bet he was panicking!
@Haiyaa so you are having a boxer?! 🤣 Get out of my space. I like it!
@clolo yes, its next week.

Personally I can't see the issue with everyone being paranoid generally? Admittedly its a little different if pregnant. But I was meant to be meeting my work team this week for lunch, in a pub, prebooked. Like 6 of us. Its not in the city centre, everyone can drive, and I really can't see it being busy. Its more a restaurant pub. Anyway, first it was let's all do tests. And now they've cancelled it because (these were the ridiculous statements that came out) the staff might not be wearing masks. And people on the next table might not be vaccinated. I mean- wtf? And that affects you how? 🤔
Meanwhile last week I was actually in the city centre for a xmas night out, in rammed bars where you couldn't move. Must be a miracle I'm alive. 🤦‍♀️
I would think if you are only going to restaurants etc and it's a sit down thing then it would be ok? Assuming you aren't meeting a pack of 50 friends? 🤣 I really have no social life though and barely have anything planned now. But I wouldn't hesitate to go for a meal. Even pregnant. I probably will be avoiding nights out in town though next year. 🤣 More because your immune system drops and it just seems sensible. But pretty much anything else I'm OK with. I think it's just about being sensible and not doing anything ridiculous? Interestingly a friend is at a music concert tonight. You had to show a covid pass or whatever to go in. But she said pretty much no one had masks on. Possibly avoid that? 🤣

Sunbird24 · 14/12/2021 22:33

We carried on with my sub-team meal out last week, though there’s only 5 of us and two people had separate other commitments that meant one arrived late and another had to leave early, so only 4 actually together at any one time. Everything bigger than that was cancelled - a management escape room thing for 16 people, and a big Christmas party for the whole office plus partners which would have been 160-180 people.
I’m not going to anything now, as for various reasons I’ve only had my first jab. (Not anti, will def get it after 12 weeks) Also doing regular LFTs and avoiding people in general (which I tend towards anyway as a massive introvert!)

Sunbird24 · 14/12/2021 22:44

I don’t know if it’s pregnancy-related, but tonight I’m getting a weird flickering pulse in between my right thumb and forefinger, in that went bit. It’s very strange!

Sunbird24 · 14/12/2021 22:45

*webby not went

larrythelizard · 14/12/2021 22:48

Argh @bez91 UTI is no fun but at least it's nothing sinister.

Re Covid etc I don't think I'm at any higher risk being 5 weeks pregnant than I was before. I don't plan on going that far/to any busy pubs though anyway, want to be able to see people over Xmas and not be isolating. Have a couple of meals out booked the next couple of weeks though, but I live in a small town so different risk profile to London or another big city.

I get flickery muscles when I get tired @Sunbird24 could it be that?

DKDK123 · 15/12/2021 08:11

@becarefuloutthere I think pregnancy can make you more prone to UTIs, I'd never had one either till I was pregnant with DS, I didnt even realise I had one till they picked it up in my routine urine appointment so guess I was quite lucky not to suffer the symptoms but it seemed every time it cleared within a few weeks I had another. Hopefully the midwife has some answers for your pain today.
It's just a private gender scan on Sat, I'm 17 weeks.

@Minster2012 chuckling at your automatic pants removal, just as well you weren't lying completely butt naked before he realised 😂

@Haiyaa hopefully they'll let you work from home those last 2 weeks, that's not much to ask for. Glad to hear all was well with the scan bar a naughty baby 😂

@clolo I'm avoiding going out the next few weeks only because I don't want to risk being contacted by track and trace and missing out on Christmas Day at my mums then we're away for our anniversary the following week and I don't want to miss that either so trying to avoid as many people as I can.

Minster2012 · 15/12/2021 08:26

@Haiyaa that's really not great with the face to face but LOVING the idea of baby batting away the scan wand!

@bez91 well I would have kept my top on 😂just the foof out of course! It was so weird, sorry youve got a UTI but your Insta of being in bed with tv & sweets made me jealous!

@clolo we are only doing a couple of things to try stay a bit safer, like DH Has his work do this week & we have a party to go to on sat but they've said everyone has to do LFTs first which I think is sensible. We aren't going to another on Friday as too much. Then we only have one trip to friends organised before Xmas but I'm sure there will be another meal added in there generally is. I e been trying to limit going into towns but Christmas shopping you know!

@Sunbird24 yeah I wouldn't go to a thing with 150-180 ppl

I think it's a case of be sensible & obviously if you feel bad you don't go to things & id hope that's what the population are doing too

Other than feeling exhausted & back ache I don't feel pregnant again & starting to worry 😳the fear is back

Juno231 · 15/12/2021 08:37

@Minster2012 gosh I can't wait for her to start kicking you to remind you she's there! Soon hopefully 🤞

@becarefuloutthere @DKDK123 not gonna lie, I hate you two a little bit for having escaped UTI hell until pregnant 😅.

My RHR has been sky high since my bfp but has been dropping the last four days. I know it most likely means nothing and I'm so glad I got that 3+ yesterday or I would have been more worried - but can't help but have it in the back of my mind. I'm glad @paintfairy 's rhr was dropping the other week as I can use that to remind myself that clearly everything was still fine 😁.

Constipation seems gone atm! And @minster2020 i don't have emergency prune juice in the house - I've actually been drinking it daily for the past week to help with this 💩 situation. I think it would have been a lot worse without it!

bez91 · 15/12/2021 08:46

Thanks @Juno231 I'll keep that in mind! Is there anything baking soda can't do? I'm waiting a call back from GP and dropped off a sample (midwife unit said they could send a sample off but GP likely to prescribe something before results) just mentioned the "P" word and they were on it 😆 my RHR had generally been all over the place since BFP but the average has raised, don't read too much into it 😊

@paintfairy I only had work drinks planned Friday afternoon/evening but no one is working in the office for now and it's a commute for me into the city plus I can't drink and would only be able to stay for 1 or 2 before I'd need to pick DD up as DH on call so I thought what's the poin! Might find some nice non alcoholic gin and sit alone Friday night drinking that instead 😆 we're also staying at inlaws over Christmas so don't want to risk having to cook another year 😂 I mean obvs be nice to see them too.

@Minster2012 you can imagine him thinking "bet this lass is easy" 😂

Has everyone sorted Christmas? I just need to wrap which I usually do on the floor but I can't sit and bend with this growing belly

whatwonder · 15/12/2021 08:50

wahooo great scan @paintfairy! Hopefully that has made it sink in a bit more now? Have you got a booking appointment with the MWs?

@bez91 sorry about the UTI, that's the last thing you want to be dealing with rn I'm sure. hopefully it goes away quickly.

@Haiyaa we love a cheeky baby! and yes that is a very sensible plan to wfh before your mat leave starts, it's only 2 weeks! deffo worth it.

@Minster2012 tell that fear to fuck off! you and baby girl are both doing great, and you probably don't feel pregnant because you're busy running around after DS and doing the million other things you've got on the go right now! on the bump side, it's pretty normal to not have a noticeable bump until 20ish weeks. do you have a retroverted uterus by any chance? Cos that can also factor in.

@Juno231 put the RHR monitor away, you're going to drive yourself mad. everything is all fine and like you said you've got your 3+ !

@clolo my work have cancelled all their christmas dos (which I'm not mad about, they would have been suuuuuper boring). I begrudgingly decided to not go to a bigger christmas party last week and then found out the next day that two of my friends who went to it tested positive for covid the morning after, so turns out it was the right decision not to go. I've got a few lower-key things booked in that I'm still planning on doing (pub lunch with friends, going to the nutcracker) but we're also trying to get away for Christmas (just in Europe but still - you need a test to get in/out) so trying to be sensible. It does seem like loads of people I know right now have covid which definitely makes me nervous. What does everyone reckon, do you think we'll be back in a lockdown for January? :/

Juno231 · 15/12/2021 08:55

@whatwonder gosh I hope not. The Omicron spread is rapid but also seems mild? We're nearly at the daily spread rates of last winter but are sub 200 deaths a day when it was more like 1500/day back then.

I'm gonna struggle in Sweden with all the covid stuff btw, they don't wear masks or take any precautions really!

larrythelizard · 15/12/2021 08:58

The Ava tracking bracelet specifically says to not use to track stuff once you're pregnant @Juno231 so I think you need to try and ignore the RHR and focus on the 3+ and the dye stealer

@Minster2012 you're in the annoying bit of the second trimester now where you 'should' feel fine but you can't feel the movement yet, won't be long I'm sure. Meanwhile are you taking care of yourself with plenty of water and some nutritious food?

My motivations for avoiding stuff is similar to yours @DKDK123 although being in isolation would stop me having to tell the in-laws I'm pregnant...vaguely tempting but not really (as at least if we go there we'll be waited on hand and foot and not have to entertain the toddler ALL the time!)

Definitely a good idea to wfh if you can @Haiyaa

I don't reckon they'll lock down @whatwonder because then they'll have to pay for furlough again, I suspect they'll continue to try to get us all to comply by scaring us all!

paintfairy · 15/12/2021 09:04

@whatwonder its next Tuesday! But no it still doesn't feel real. Like a dream that was someone else's? 🤷‍♀️
@bez91 yeah I wouldn't make an effort for that either. 🤣 I hate having to get myself anywhere. And I only went with my work friends because they are actually friends. I wouldn't have met the work people generically. 🤣 I hate being forced to spend time with people.
@larrythelizardno i don't feel at risk right now either. I think it'll change as you go along, but earlier on I think you are still functioning as normal. DH honestly didn't understand that your immune system drops though, so I did have to explain.
@Minster2012 my rhr has flat lined to 69 now. Definitely means nothing. 🤣

Vil10 · 15/12/2021 09:34

@Juno231 so happy you got your 3+!! Don't worry about your rhr, I was really worrying at first but then lots of women put my mind at ease and it seems it jumps up and down

@bez91 8 days and counting!! I always think I love this bus and would never change it but being on here and speaking to some of you it really opens your eyes to what can happen in early pregnancy, I think if I hadn't even joined this thread and I got pregnant, I would've been completely clueless to what could happen, I probs wouldn't even consider an early scan!!

@becarefuloutthere hahaha I'm quite funny with blood to be honest, but just my own blood, unless there's a lot of someone else's! Love how DH stayed so attentive throughout though!! Glad it was good and informative though!

@DKDK123 it's completely understandable for you to be worried but baby is fine, you've got this!! Hahaha that bloody second magpie!!

@paintfairy well it's definitely happening to you!!

@Minster2012 your DS makes me laugh🤣 she's in there and you're both doing amazing!! Just keep looking at those scan pics and those little kicks and movements will be there before you know it!!

@Haiyaa so glad the scan went well!! And cannot believe how quickly it's going, I remember you getting your BFP!! I definitely think asking to WFH is extremely reasonable!!

@larrythelizard fully agree with you on the "try to get us to comply by scaring us all", it's scaremongering at its finest and it's tedious!!

On the cancelling plans or not doing anything, as I'm not vaccinated I can't go to large events anyway because you need to show covid passports now, I have a family do Saturday, friends daughters birthday Sunday, meal out on Tuesday, Christmas Day with both my family and OH's, out with friends in town on boxing day during the day (will be telling them then if all goes well at scan) then at another friends on the 27th, and I don't plan on cancelling any of those plans, I think it's just about doing what you feel comfortable doing really, and you'd like to think if people didn't feel well they wouldn't go to events/meals

Well I think after the last 4/5 days of feeling nauseous, I feel like it's going to come up today, retched so badly whilst brushing my teeth this morning and had to hold in throwing up all morning, weirdly my mum rang me earlier saying she'd been sick this morning so now I feel like if I am sick I can pass it off as "something going round", especially because at work if you're sick you need to stay off for 48 hours from the last time you were sick, so at least I'd have that excuse without having to say anything🤣

Sunbird24 · 15/12/2021 09:35

I’m a little sad this morning as someone on an IVF thread is 3 days behind me but getting her viability scan a whole week sooner. Trust me to be with a clinic that doesn’t do blood tests for HCG increases and only scans around 8 weeks!

Juno231 · 15/12/2021 09:39

@Sunbird24 any chance you can get a private one? Some ladies in your position are seriously getting them weekly at this stage just for peace of mind.

larrythelizard · 15/12/2021 10:00

Oh @Sunbird24 that's shit. When is 8w for you? Worth getting a different place to scan?

I had an email saying I'd won a prize on the lottery last night but the app won't work, maybe it's because I've won more than £2.80?!

Sunbird24 · 15/12/2021 10:08

@Juno231 I’ve had a look but with the places near me the soonest I can get one is NYE, so there’s only another 6 days til my official one.

With the second pregnancy I went for a private scan at 6+5, but was measuring 6+1 with a heartbeat. By the time I had my official scan it was gone.

With my last one, there was still one heartbeat st official scan, but measuring nearly 2 weeks behind, and the other twin hadn’t made it past about the point I’m at now. I’m stuck in that weird limbo of really wanting to see it early, but only if it’s going to be good news - if it’s going to be bad again I’d rather just carry on in ignorant bliss for as long as possible!

Sunbird24 · 15/12/2021 10:09

@larrythelizard ooh, fingers crossed for an extra Christmas bonus amount for you!

@Vil10 you can actually. You just need to get an official lateral flow test and log it in the app just before the event. But I'm in the same boat and I refuse to pretend. Because I don't agree with any of it.
@Sunbird24 its very difficult and I'm actually with you in that I would prefer to remain in limbo. Firstly because it could still go wrong between 6 and 8 weeks, so what have you gained by an early scan? Secondly I was reading on an ivf post yesterday that someone had been for their scan that very day at 6+4 or thereabouts. Got home and then started bleeding! So for 2 minutes you might feel better but it's not really changing anything at all? I would also query how many scans are good for you. I felt quite sore after yesterday, to the point I was worried it might have done damage! So i have mixed feelings about it and would be worried about creating a problem by actually going. Are you with care? They are 8 week people. 🤣 But I think that's actually because by then, there's more a chance of it staying?

Sunbird24 · 15/12/2021 11:06

@paintfairy yes, they’ve been pretty good to be fair - can’t really blame them for lack of success so far!

Minster2012 · 15/12/2021 12:44

Might struggle with internet issues atm

Yum yum yum a daily prune juice instead of pom @Juno231 and yeah still get the rhr worry but it seems to be very sporadic

@bez91 I was thinking the same about the baking soda, it's magic stuff! And DH was there for the scan so maybe he thought it was a 3some situation! 😂I'm just wrapping a few presents today that need posting & still need to buy a couple more but online things, and something for DH I need FIL's help with

@whatwonder thank you darling, and I've not been told I have a non standard uterus or placenta so I guess it's normal?! I've never asked though 😂 oooo the nutcracker will be lovely. I also think another lockdown won't happen. It seems bizarre that ppl are asked to wfh but then like the weird supper we had the other week there were 5 different couples there, so it's the mixing that's the issue I think, so Maybe they can try to stop socialising again? But in reality it's very difficult

@larrythelizard these are nutritious right?? There were a full packet before my friend came over 😂😳so that lottery win eh?!! Come on millionaire!!

I will try @Vil10 and that's a very good excuse for your mum, it's only just over a week to go to scan 🤞🏻

@Sunbird24 my clinic was exactly the same, but you got your 3+ right & in some ways like @paintfairy says it's kinda better to stick head in the sand & get another week done or you could def get one yourself if you want. Like @Juno231 says I also know someone who had weekly scans basically into the second trimester. The way I feel atm it's very tempting but don't forget I was told to not have more internal scans so maybe you don't want to do anything that could be internal?
