Maternity clothes - under the bump fittings

Do they really stay up? I've bought a pair of jeans and a pair of cords, both under the bump with elasticated front panel, then normal waistband at the back. They're both a good fit except for the fact that every few paces I have to hitch them up on the waist. Any suggestions? Are maternity belts with the stretchy side panels (like this ) worth buying? TIA

I use DP's belt (my own won't reach around me )

I find over the bump ones much worse for falling down.

Braces, that's what you need.

The best pregnancy jeans I found were from Jojo Maman Bebe - they were over the bump ones with adjustors inside the waistband. They were supremely comfortable and also looked nice and the adjustors were brilliant so that the jeans fit right through the expansion. At 20 weeks you don't fit your normal jeans but maternity jeans are too enormous. Under the bump feels horrible and I think it looks really horrible too.

I'm 22 wks, in mat jeans and nothing fits! On the bump trousers from last time are soo uncomfortable (bits of elastic with buttons around the waist) Got new over the bump stuff but they fall down- spent 2 hrs in Blooming marvellous trying lots on in different styles, and sizes, trying to find some that stayed up when bending and squatting and still ended up with a pair that fall down when I walk. They need treadmills in the changing cubicles so you really can check! Have one pair that isn't too bad, hoping will get better as I get bigger, they're jersey stretchy comfy trousers, but still fall down a bit. I think trousers, pg and me don't mix. But don't like skirts in this weather, and the thought of putting on tights !

Might depend on your shape. I can only wear under the bump ones (the Blooming Marvelous ones), and the over the bump ones drive me nutty.

I'm 26 weeks now and find that no matter if I wear under the bump clothes of over the bump clothes - they all fall down. The u-t-b jeans from Next (which I love) fit me perfectly but slip down all the time. I can even pull them down when I go to the loo without undoing the button or zip!

I also have apair of ASDA jeans that my cousin gave me - they are a gorgeous fit but constantly fall down too. A belt with them is just uncomfy and though the bump band works for a short time, my tops ride up over the bump band so it's a no win situation.

Dot Perkins work trousers are also utb but they fall down all the time despite being at their smallest size.

I love my cheap tesco trackie bottoms - I wear them all the time in the house and are the only trousers that I have that stay up. I love them!

Under the bump was terrible for me. I was most comfortable in full on stretchy bump coving from H&M with DS

I had these big side altering combat things with DD because I refused to wear the stretchy ones. Sense of style left by the time DS came

Ooh my under bump joggers from Mothercare were loooooooooooovely though

I'm 28 weeks and an u-t-b with belt fan, too. Mine are from topshop, with stretchy panels in the pockets. They kept on falling down until I tried a longish belt around my hips - seems to be doing the trick! Belt plus long top (again, thank you, topshop) is my current preferred combo.

I was sooooo glad to read this thread! I bought my first mat jeans (seraphine u-t-b; while they are really nice I cant walk two steps without having to hitch them up. I tried a belt but found that really uncomfortable when sitting down. I also find that when I sit down they show way too much bum cleavage too! Think I may give a bump band & long top combo a try!

My under-bump jeans were great until around 30 weeks when they then became too tight when I sat down and I had to switch to over-bump ones. They did often have to be hitched up but I discovered that wearing a loose belt would hold them above my hips. Felt much more 'normal' in them than the over-bump ones and am hoping they will do me after LO is born for that bit before you can get in your real clothes again.

Now I am so big that the over-bump ones won't stay up, they keep rolling down!
