Pain down top of tummy centre line

I’m 28 weeks, wondering if anyone has had this before as it’s my 3rd and I haven’t? I am getting pains at the top of my tummy but just along the centre line. My bump is fairly large but overall I’m not large at all, I’m a bit worried muscle is tearing apart… Google results are all about round ligament pain which this isn’t.

I am very tender and feel bruised just below my sternum and across the very top of my tummy just under my ribs. I've had it for about 3 weeks now, since my ribs separated a bit and bump started to poke through the gap.

I go for walks and bounce on my birthing ball. I find the gravity helps move baby further down in my belly so there's not as much pressure in that area. If I sit for long periods, it tends to shuffle up higher and the pain of baby against my ribs can get unbearable. Also, warm baths and getting hubby to massage my back either side of my spine help.

Thanks pitstop, that sounds more familiar from prev pregnancies. This is more a pain down the centre line. And I have to be really careful turning over in bed, i know you usually do but that ‘normal’ pain is in the hips/pelvis not my centre tummy

I'd be inclined to give the midwife a call, some pre eclampsia pain is in the upper tummy. The midwife can advise you if you should get it checked out.

Thanks @ThisMammaCat I will mention it to obstetrician tomorrow. My blood pressure is low so hopefully not that.

I had this with my first and put it down to round ligament pain in the end, it felt like a torn muscle in a straight line and I came and went through the pregnancy. Hope it settles for you soon x
