Snuzpod mattress recommendations

I’m almost 28 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. With my first I had a next 2 me crib which my daughter just would NOT go in. We ended up selling it as it was hardly used. This time round I will be borrowing my SIL’s snuzpod so want to buy a new mattress and mattress protector for it. There is a normal mattress & protector then a organic mattress & protector. I was planning on buying online with there being Black Friday deals but without seeing the mattresses & protectors in person I don’t know which is best. One of the main problems with the next 2 me crib was the mattress was rock hard and the protector made like a scratchy sound. Has anyone got a snuzpod and can tell me which mattress would be better?

We’ve just bought the normal Sunzpod mattress (that’s currently reduced to around £30). It came the other day and seems perfectly good 😊

Hello!

I am wondering if anyone has any advice on which NATURAL mattress to buy for the Snuzpod3 crib? I am unsure between the Snuz Natural Mattress or the little Green Sheep one.
I have read some reviews about MOULD growing on the LGS one but not sure if this applies to the Snuz one and all mattresses in general or whether it's just a LGS problem.
(Also I am presuming that neither have been treated with flame retardant chemicals - i know this is stated for LGS but not sure about Snuz...any ideas?)

Thank you all!

@LittleBhuddhaBaby Little Green Sheep and Snuz are the same company. I'm not clear exactly what the difference is between the two natural options TBH - I need to buy one for a Snuzpod4 shortly. We have a natural LGS one for the Snuzpod3 (we sold the Snuzpod3 as we weren't planning at that point to have another baby and didn't have the storage space, and of course they're different sizes...) which is back in it's box in a cupboard (not the loft) and it's still in perfect condition after 2 years, so the mould issue you heard about may just be how that person stored it? We've never had an issue with ours (always used with a mattress protector, etc).

We are using our Snuzpod 3 for our second, we set it up a couple of weeks ago. The original mattress that we used for our son (who is now 22 months) is still in excellent condition so we will be using that again. We used the waterproof protector with it last time and will again this time.

We did used to put a hot water bottle on the mattress for a few minutes before to warm the mattress, then remove it and cover with a blanket to keep the warmth in before we put the baby down, we found that helped him to settle in the Snuzpod as he wasn't going on to something cold and tended to stay asleep rather than waking up the second we put him down which was what was happening before we started doing this. He was a winter baby though so this was December time and it was cold.

Interesting I know the 2 companies collaborated on some mattress before but thought they were distinct companies.
Good to know about the mould...if there isn't much difference might go for the Snuz then as slightly cheaper.😅

Thank you @Pinktruffle that sounds like a really good tip! especially as ours is also due beginning of December! 🤗

We bought the Natural mattress from Little Green Sheep. The mattress that came with the Snuzpod was awful quality foam.

We compromised and got the snuzpod mattress and the little green sheep mattress protectors. The LGS mattress protectors are completely silent so that's no crunchy sound thankfully and you can bung them in the washing machine too. The snuzpod mattress was fine too, I liked the fact it was completely breathable so it worked with the LGS breathable martyrs protectors. They have sales on quite often too so it's worth keeping an eye out.

MariaDingbat · 28/09/2022 16:21

Oh and the snuzpod had a wierd size mattress so it's easiest to buy snuzpod brand sheets for it too. Again, keep an eye out for days.

Thank you @MariaDingbat ! Snuz mattress + LGS protector sounds like an excellent compromise! I was worried the Snuz matress protector i got was a bit synthetic and crinkly....Plus they have a 10% sale on now too!😜
