Hi, I know early pregnancy can be a scary time but please stop checking your cervix, you don't want to risk causing any infections. Also the cervix gets a lot of bloodflow and can be very sensitive at this time- it's best left alone to do its job Smile

I would say ask at your booking in appointment. They will know the correct answer and definitely in the meantime stop checking.

OP I suspect you might have a mild cervical prolapse - not all women realise they have one pre-pregnancy as the cervix is still high up enough that you might only just feel it with your finger tip. I had one pre-pregnancy (only found out as I was suffering from urinary frequency and so that area was checked by docs) and in the first trimester of pregnancy the prolapse got worse and I could feel the cervix much closer to the vaginal entrance. I was told this was due to pregnancy hormones and it would likely get better in the second trimester - sure enough they have been right and it's moved further back up.

Keep doing your pelvic floor exercises regularly and always make sure that area and your fingers are clean when you check it (gently once every week or two while in the shower is probably the best time). But if it moves down further or if you are still worried, it's always worth getting your GP to check that a mild prolapse is all it is, just in case.
