hi guys

I'm 43 and did an IVF. which was successful. However I have been having some veeeeery light spotting, i.e. just when Iwhipe colour is liiiiight very light brown. I ruled out urine infection today...I was at Kings college early pregnancy but somehow, i'm not really trusting them, in particular with urine test. Anyhow. Obviously I'm very very said. Pregnancy test was very good number two weeks into the pregnancy. And now this? Has anyone had this happen to them? DID THE Yolk sack appear in later sacks? Thank you!

I’m guessing as it’s IVF you know it’s definitely week 6? Is it the beginning or the end of the week? Even a couple of days can make a difference

FebruaryVik · 27/11/2021 05:10

So, my transfer was October 18th. My embriyo was 3 days old...they removed the egg from me on the 15th of October. it was not a 5 day embriyo.

Do another pregnancy test, maybe have tests done privately as well and of course, call your clinic.

MissLC · 30/11/2021 12:24

I was told that brown blood/discharge was old blood and generally nothing to worry about. I had a little early on in my pregnancy (around week 7) and everything was totally fine

FebruaryVik · 30/11/2021 17:47

Hi Duchessmom,

Yes I agree a lot of people state that spotting is ok-and my pregnancy test does come back positive, oever and over and over; and my morning sickness lingers, but I heard that this is always the case in Blight Ovum miscarriages? I don't know..:-(

Hi MIssLC, yes I agree about the discharge, however, I am concerned as my embriyo did not have an egg yolk, unfortunately! In week 6 there was no egg yolk to be found so this hugely concerned me.. thus the email/message to everyone here.

Hi @FebruaryVik I also had a transfer on the 18th October. You're over 8 weeks now (8+4, I think). Can't you go have another scan? At over 8 weeks you would be able to tell if it's a blighted ovum or not.

A580Hojas · 30/11/2021 18:50

Why aren't you trusting Kings College?

I had a "nothing to see" at 6 weeks scan there (20 years ago) had to go back later - I think maybe 10 weeks? - I was pg and the heartbeat was visible and the child is now away at University but coming home for a visit on Thursday hooray.

It's just different for everyone.

FebruaryVik · 01/12/2021 09:28

Because they have these shaperons now and she was awful. She first said she threw away my urine and then when nurse told her to do my urine test she said oh i'll do it again...!???? I think she just pulled it off the trash :-(. Other than this thats it...

Are u sure it was 6 weeks? Cuz sometimes with natural pregnancies it is difficult to ascertain the weeks. I did mine with IVF so I'm 100 percent sure I was week 6. Today I'm week 6.3. They told. me to go baack this Fricay which would make me 7 weeks....Maybe I can wait another week.

FebruaryVik · 01/12/2021 09:30

Hi Holskey no i'm not week 8. October 18 is day. you count days from that day. so is 45 days divided by 7 it is 6.3. So I'm on week 6.3. plus maaaybe 2 days as my embriyo was in day 3 not day 5.

@FebruaryVik - @Holskey is correct, you have to add an additonal 2 weeks on to the transfer date for IVF pregnancy. Here is a calculator you can use to confirm:

www.yourivfjourney.com/baby-calculators-for-pregnancy/ivf-and-fet-due-date-calculator/

Holskey · 01/12/2021 12:57

As @MabelG said, you have to add 2 weeks on from when you ovulated. Strange I know, but that's just how it's done. You are considered over 8 weeks pregnant.

FebruaryVik · 01/12/2021 20:39

Hmmm well all of my doctors, my IVF and those that are treating me in the scans i'm doing agree that i'm week 6.3 today; but heck, if what you are saying is corrrect I may as well opt for miscarriage right now as it is impossible not see an egg yolk at week 8... Anyhew...I'll do more research.... THANKS GUYS!

so yes, i did more research and dont' know about pregnancy but my GS was def 6.0 weeks... whew..

OP posts:
Holskey · 02/12/2021 15:06

I'm not sure what GS is. I always thought the 40 weeks of pregnancy (with the first two being before conception) was universal, but perhaps it's different in other countries. That's the only explanation I can think of for you finding any information that supports your dates 🤷‍♀️. Either way, whenever you're reading anything UK-based or talking to someone from the UK (so most of Mumsnet) it's worth bearing in mind that you are considered 8+6 pregnant here.

MabelG · 02/12/2021 17:31

GS is gestational sac. It could be that the pregnancy is measuring behind but probably best to ask the doctor. Best of luck with your next scan x
