Fundal height 40cm at 33 weeks!!!

I have been measured at 28 weeks (28cm) and 31 weeks (32cm) and all looked fine - midwife was happy with those measurements.

The same midwife measured me today at 33 weeks (had an earlier appointment as there was glucose in my urine last time so she wanted to check it hadn't happened again - it hasn't plus I've had a negative GTT) and I am measuring 40cm!!!!???

40! An 8cm growth in two weeks! I'm going for a scan on Monday but in the meantime I was just wondering if anyone can relate to such a massive leap? I was slim pre pregnancy and am 5'4", my bump is aaaaall at the front and you can't see that I'm pregnant from behind so it's just sticking straight out like a bullet. But surely 40 is ridiculous?! I don't feel like I look as large as that suggests. My chart in my notes is actually laughable.

Help!

Hi @gemsam7015
Just wondering how it all ended up with your pregnancy and baby?

I am in a very similar boat to you. Was measuring 27cm at 26 weeks, 29cm at 28 weeks and 31 cm at 31wks and 4 days.

Now, at 33 wks and 4 days I have measured 40cm!!! That is a 9cm growth in 2 weeks?!
I am so shocked. I also have an ultrasound on Monday but am feeling worried for the first time during my pregnancy.

I would really appreiate it if you could fill me in on what happened in the end in your case?

Thank you!

Hi @AlGreca
All was perfect!
I had a few follow up ultrasounds as my bump continued to just measure above and beyond, so much so it couldn't be plotted on the chart anymore but everything was fine. My daughter (who is now 11 weeks) had no health concerns and neither did I, my fluid levels were normal and she was delivered a day after her due date weighing 9lb.
I'm quite petite and my bump was all at the front, I suppose pair that with a chunky girl and the charts are useless haha
I hope everything goes well for you! I'm sure it will x

@gemsam7015
That’s very heartwarming.
Will do!

@gemsam7015 Hello! Sorry for the late update, we're flat out trying to finish some renos and preparing for baby.

So, my scan was completely fine! After they measured everything and graphed it, they were really happy, they said it was a "beautifully average baby".
The fundal height measured normal as well.

Either I was very bloated at last measurement, or it was a wrong measurement.
Who knows - but Im just so glad that all is well and there is nothing to worry about. Now I can rest easy and enjoy these last few weeks feeling the baby move around slowly as it loses room. :) Love it so much.

Thank you again for your messages and enjoy your little girl! x

@AlGreca oh I'm so pleased! Now relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and you can get so so excited to meet your baby! I'm envious I don't get to do that again Grin
Soak it all up, it's the best moment in the world x
