Early preeclampsia and Baby 10th centile at 31 weeks

Im just looking for some experiences, stories in a similar situation.

My week 28 scan was absolutely fine but yesterday on week 31 baby's weight dropped to 10th centile and the blood flow from placenta to baby was not right. I had bloods taken, monitored baby movements and blood pressure checked, protein in the urine etc. The consultant said it is an indication for early preeclampsia. I had absolutely no symptoms and feeling just right.

I am just very worried and hoping to hear some positive stories. Thank you X

My sister had this, she won't mind me sharing with you. She had two babies at 30 weeks and 34 weeks. They are now 9 and 11.

They spent 10 weeks in special care baby unit. The hospital were confident they would be fine. My sister expressed as much milk as she could and they were fed through a tube.

She was able to hold them.

The consultant will keep you going for as long as possible. My sister was diagnosed at 24 weeks and monitored.

I'm sorry you are facing this and I hope this story gives you some hope.

Let me know if you want more info.

I had this in 2 pregnancies. Both babies held on till 37 weeks when I was induced. In the meantime I was on lots of blood pressure medication and felt crap but was fine. Both babies were v small (below 1st centile) but didn’t need extra care, put on weight beautifully (I formula fed) and had no subsequent issues. HTH.

Thank you for your stories, it does give me some home. Can I ask if the babies were healthy? X

Yes completely healthy apart from acids reflux which they prescribed for. Both were 3lbs something at birth.

Yes both healthy with literally zero problems. Both robust children - not frail or sickly.

I had pre eclampsia and delivered my 2lb 5oz daughter at 30 weeks. She spent some time in neo natal care with breathing support but came home before her actual due date weighing 4lbs.
She's now 26 with a masters degree and no health issues. You have every chance of a positive outcome although it feels incredibly scary while you're going through it.
