Braxton Hicks in second pregnancy but not in first?

I didn't have any BH at all in my first pregnancy, and in my subsequent labour had a really long and painful latent phase. The contractions just didn't seem to do much, even though they were frequent and intense. It was 55 hours from first contraction to birth, and I was only admitted to hospital 12 hours before the birth. Because of this I was exhausted, and had the typical epidural+ventouse+episiotomy experience.

This time around, I have been having BH contractions from as soon as I felt baby move, which was at about 16 weeks. Back then they felt like baby was doing a somersault, sort of like a tight "churning" feeling. I'm now nearly 36 weeks and they're much more uncomfortable, like a mild period pain, and baby always sticks out to the side when they come. I get them more in the afternoon, always irregular but sometimes I'll notice two happening a few minutes apart.

I guess I'm hoping that this might mean this labour could be a lot faster/more efficient, as my body has clearly had a lot of practice now?! Has this happened to anyone, and how was your second labour compared to your first?

Thanks :)
