Hi!

I had a checkup today where the consultant told me that I wasn't dilating as of yet but my cervix is soft and starting to thin out a lot which explains the pains I've been getting recently, a lot of back ache, pressure down there and needing the toilet constantly but then going and nothing ...

What I was wondering is how close would you say I am to dilatkng ? As I know the first stage is the cervix thinning, the lady said anywhere from a day to a week but she said that there really isn't a time frame.

Any stories from you ladies ? I'm 38+2 today but when I went in for a scan he's measuring slightly forward only by a week and he's fully engaged and to a point where the lady could feel it when checking my cervix and also the somographer could not get a measurement on his head as he was so low down

There's no way of knowing really but if you want to try and get your labour started, you could try expressing and collecting colostrum. Handy to have a few syringes ready to take in to the hospital if you can get them
