Planned C section date

So just got the date for my planned section, this is due to several medical conditions that cause me to be at risk of natural birth. My worry is the date they gave me is 29th December, my due date is 1st January 🙈 does this sound too close to my due date for a planned section? I'm worried I will go in to labour spontaneously. This is my first baby so it's all new to me, I have 3 big sisters 2 of which went in to labour early. What do you all think?

My c section date (also due to medical reasons) is this Thursday and my due date is Monday. If I go into labour before I just call up, it’ll be the same for you, so try not to worry x

I had the same concern when they scheduled my planned c-section, and the consultant wrote on my notes that I should have a c-section if I went into labour naturally before my due date. Due to your medical conditions, I'd expect them to do the same for you. If going into labour at all is dangerous for you, you could ask them to bring your c-section forward. However, it's best for the baby to stay in as long as possible, so they probably don't want to bring it too far forward.

Thank you. Yes I would just call up and go to hospital if I go into labour early. I know I'm worrying mostly unnecessary just a nervous time. I am glad the baby will be almost full term this is so much better for her.

Bit of an iffy one because of Christmas and them not wanting electives in, some hospitals don't like electives too close to weekends either.

I had my latest booked for bang on 39wk in the afternoon and went in to labour early hours at 38+6. They got me in to surgery late that night, had over 20hrs of labour before it (7 of them in hospital) as there was someone more urgent who needed to go in before me.

Yes that was my worry if I go in to labour at a weekend or through the night and they didn't have the right staff or availability etc. I'm going to speak with the midwife tomorrow about it but if they think this is what is best then we will just go with that and keep my legs crossed lol

Am in a similar position, elective c section (with GA rather than spinal) for medical reasons. Due 9th January and booked in on 5th (so 39+3). Pretty anxious also because of bank holidays etc but I think they will just do the section early if I go into labour spontaneously. Crapping it TBH.

Oh, that's great! Must be such a relief

zeena83 · 25/11/2021 15:33

Well done, Laura! That's really great news. I've got a call with consultant on Tuesday so will mention to him about moving the date forward but hopefully he will be able to reassure that it isn't necessary in my case...

lauranug · 25/11/2021 16:27

Yes definitely a relief. Don't even care if I have to stay in over Xmas would rather be in hospital than at home worrying. Let me know how it goes zeena fingers crossed for you xx
