When will baby move?

I'm 17+4 and still haven't felt as much as a twinge. It's my second pregnancy and I really thought I would have felt something, even a flutter by now.

Heartbeat all fine at my last midwife appointment but I can't help worrying as I just don't feel pregnant. When did everyone else start feeling movements?

Do you know where your placenta is. I have an anterior placenta. I didn't feel a thing til about 23 weeks

sausagechops66 · 23/11/2021 14:43

No I haven't been told. I had a great 12 week scan and heard the heartbeat at 16 weeks at the midwives but I still just don't feel like there's anything in there, it's so odd.

Presuming all is normal with my placenta as I haven't been told otherwise.

With DD1 I had an anterior placenta and felt the first movements around 16-17 weeks.

With current baby I'm now 18+3 with a posterior placenta and still haven't felt any movement, even though everyone told me I would feel baby earlier than DD1/my placenta isn't in the way, etc

But when I was at the midwife last week we heard a clear heartbeat almost as soon as the Doppler touched my stomach! And she wasn't worried that I haven't felt anything yet.
I have my 20 week scan booked for 9th December, but if I was really worried, I'd book a private scan to put my mind at rest

sausagechops66 · 23/11/2021 17:10

@MsSquiz I've also been told I should feel movements sooner with my second so that's worrying me too. Although with my first I can't remember exactly when I felt anything Confused

I’m 20+4 and it’s really picked up this week. Will reliably feel the baby every evening. This is my 3rd anterior placenta though so maybe not relevant.

Tallulahh3 · 23/11/2021 18:55

Anterior placenta here too - I found out at my 20 week scan. He was kicking away like mad in there and I still can’t feel a thing. It could take up to week 24 apparently so don’t worry if it takes a bit longer for you.

Kinko · 23/11/2021 20:16

About 20-21 weeks for me. I didn't feel anything, then on a Sunday I was sat on the sofa watching TV and the little bugger drop kicked my cervix. I yelped so loud my husband came running. It took a couple of weeks more for me to start to feel her normal turning movements.

I also had an anterior placenta. If you have any of your docs from your scan it should say. Anterior placenta is completely normal - just have a Google you'll find loads of info on it.

P.s I also started to get worried at exactly the same time as you because friends had said they felt their baby from 16 weeks onwards.

Kinko · 23/11/2021 20:17

P.p.s it should also be in your badger notes app.

Greenmarmalade · 23/11/2021 20:17

Look on your notes- I had anterior placenta and wasn’t told.

Orarewedancer · 23/11/2021 21:06

DC1 Felt movement around 18 weeks
DC3 Around 16 weeks
DC3 (current pregnancy) didn't feel anything until 19.5 weeks - turns out I have an anterior placenta which I wasn't told about until the 20 week scan. 23 weeks now and kicking away loads, albeit slightly more muted than with the first two!

Epli · 23/11/2021 21:21

I haven’t feel anything so far (19w3d) but I had a scan at 18w and saw the baby moving and kicking. In general she is super active and makes it difficult for ultrasound technician but I don’t feel it yet :).

MrsStrongman · 23/11/2021 21:43

With my first I felt movements really early, around 16 weeks. But with my second it wasn't until almost 20 weeks that I felt any movements.

Runkle · 24/11/2021 07:15

Placenta position should be in your scan notes.

BabyFeb22 · 24/11/2021 07:22

I'm 27 weeks at the moment with my first and found out at 20 week scan I had anterior placenta on the scan she was kicking away but I felt none of it! I'd say it wasn't until around 23 weeks I started feeling flutters and even now unless she's right at the bottom or right at the top I struggle to feel her- I had to go to triage the other week as not felt her move all day and she was kicking away at the Doppler but I couldn't feel it because she was right in the middle x

GreyGoose1980 · 24/11/2021 12:06

Hi
I also have an anterior placenta (was told at 20 week scan). Am 22 weeks and felt a couple of slight flutters but as it’s my first pregnancy can’t be sure they are movements. I have a midwife appointment at 24.5 weeks so will ask for a check up if I haven’t felt anything more between now and then.

sausagechops66 · 24/11/2021 13:27

I can't see anything in my scan notes about my placenta. There is just a growth chart. I guess I will wait for my 20 week scan in a few weeks and see what they say then.
