5/6 weeks pregnant had a bleed for 2 hours misscarriage or still pregnant?

I found out I was pregnant on the 7th Nov, was only faint but then did two more a clear blue a few days a part over a week and came back positive. (3 positive pregnancy test) on the 17th (5 week 1 day) I suddenly started bleeding heavy. It lasted only a short time. It was a gush of blood and then a clot about the size of a 10p coin. I've assumed I've misscarried as had one in May at 8+4

This time the bleed was over in a few hours and just had a spotting of brown discharge when I wipe. The cramping was mild and probably lasted upto an hour.

However My nausea hasgot worse day by day. As well as other pregnancy symptoms.

Done two more tests and the lines are getting darker.

I expected my hormone levels to drop rapidly as in May by bloods the hcg dropped right back to zero in like 3 days. Its been 5 days now and I feel like my hormones are increasing.

Seeing the gp tomorrow for a check up.

Any advice or shared experiences would be great.

I've accepted I've misscarried but my friend seems to think I could be still pregnant etc

Thought I would update incase someone else is looking for answers like myself.

Been to see the GP who has advised that it could be that I have had a complete miscarriage. But my hormones have yet to decrease which is why I'm still suffering with nausea , tiredness, tender breasts.

As I'm only early stages and there is no bleeding or pain she has told me I need to wait two weeks and do a pregnancy test each week. If come the 8th I'm still testing positive then to go back in.

She can neither confirm I have 100% miscarried or that I could still be pregnant.

Prescribed me with anti sickness tablets to help with the sickness and nausea.

If bleeding or pain starts then to ring the EPU

Your GP should get you a blood test over 2 days which will test to see whether your pregnancy hormones are increasing or decreasing.

You get a lot of women whom bleed in early days and everything turns out to be fine and they carry on to have their healthy babies. In my case though, everytime I've bled it ended in a miscarriage.

Tashalady91 · 24/11/2021 10:28

@Monday55 I was hoping blood tests would be taken. But tbh I don't think she was taking me seriously.

Nightmare really. I'm contemplating paying for an early scan privately.

New changes is slight brown discharge when I wipe. Horrendous nausea aswell

Spoke to EPU have advised that if in a week I'm still suffering with symptoms of pregnancy like nausea and testing positive then they will scan me

I'm glad they've offered to scan you! At least that's positive.

If I were you I would go back to the GP and request hcg tests to check which direction your levels are going. It's fairly standard and isn't difficult. Maybe speak to a different doctor than the one you saw if she wasn't taking you seriously. Was the bleed painful? Many women have bleeding in early pregnancy.

lovelylittlesunflower · 25/11/2021 14:14

I would go for a private scan. I don't want to worry you but I had brown discharge and it turned out to be a molar pregnancy. I had terrible nausea despite the brown discharge. It was only picked up as I paid for a private scan who then referred me to EPU via GP.

Tashalady91 · 25/11/2021 22:24

@GinnyBee thank you for your reply.

It is a standard thing which is why I'm surprised. What makes it worse is its very difficult to get through to then in the first place.

I've kind accepted ive misscarried but I think becuase ive got such bad nausea and sickness I just need to know all is well.

@lovelylittlesunflower thank you for replying also. I'm sorry to hear about your molar pregnancy. I actually don't know what this is exactly so I'm going to read up on it now.

So far I just have a bad upset stomach type feeling its like a mixture of a stomach bug and trapped wind feeling. Its the worst ever its a lingering horrible sicky feeling 😞

Just a little update.

Still suffering with bad nausea

Still testing positive

Update. Spoke to the early pregnancy unit and they have basically said to stay positive and given the fact the bleeding stopped after a few hours and I'm still testing positive along with suffering with nausea these are all good signs.

I'm not convinced myself but can only pray amd hope.

She said do a test is two days (14 days after the bleed) if its positive then that leads to the fact I'm still pregnant.

Unsure going to try and book an private scan for in two weeks time as I will be 9 weeks going or first day of my last period.

Nightmare not knowing

This happened to me when I was around 7weeks pregnant. I freaked out thinking I was having a miscarriage and called my midwife straight away. She immediately booked me into EPU and I had a scan later that afternoon! Saw the heartbeat on screen and baby was fine. I had a haematoma and bled on and off until I was around 12 weeks. Apparently they're really common. I would push for EPU to see you urgently!

If you are financially able- just book a scan. It would be about £80. You would be seen this afternoon- just do it.
Tashalady91 · 01/12/2021 18:58

@Rachaelrachael it defintely has freaked me out massively. I'm hoping for the best but not getting my hopes up until I'm scanned.

@Suprima I'm booking a scan but waiting until I'm technically further along an other 2 week. So at least it can be seen.

I had a scan in May at 7 weeks and they couldn't see anything other than the sac. Told me it's always best to wait until 9 week in May I did miscarriage a week later. I was 7+4 at the time.

Right now ladies I'm back to taking folic acid, kittle caffeine and trying to stay stress free to give myself the best chance

Good luck @Tashalady91 I have similar - bled at 5 weeks but not much and baby was ok.

I'm now 9,5 weeks and bled a lot more the other day; like gushing for 30 mins. Baby still seemed fine and a strong heartbeat.

I'm so puzzled about it. Seeing a really good OB on Monday so can update you if you're interested.

Hope you're ok. It's so scary x

But to ensure it’s a hopefully healthy pregnancy, there isn’t really anything to lose by going now. They could only see a sac when you were 7 weeks because unfortunately your poor baby was not growing properly, which was why you miscarried. I have been in exactly the same situation with you on this and it is shit.

If you are about 6/7 weeks, which I’m guessing from your dates- you really should be able to see a fluttering heartbeat by now, and a tiny baby by the yolk sac. This may be more reassuring to see rather than 2 weeks of anxiety.

Bellafrenum · 04/12/2021 11:52

I can't believe they haven't scanned you yet. I have had scans at 6 weeks and you can see a pregnancy. I would get the next available private appointment if I were you. Good luck xx

Tashalady91 · 18/12/2021 22:44

@Bellafrenum @Monday55 @Suprima @GinnyBee @laurenGame @lovelylittlesunflower @Rachaelrachael thank you all for your comments it means a lot.

I had a private scan yesterday and I'm pleased to say I have a healthy growing baby I'm measuring at 9+3 going off last period. Heartbeat all fine and everything looked OK. I'm now going to book in with a midwife and start my journey. Given the delays covid has caused with the NHS seeing you etc and my experience so far. I will be having private scans as and when I can financially to keep my mind at peace. Over the moon and less anxious.

Symptoms is still bad nausea and reflux.

Slight discoloured discharge here and there which I've been told is fine. As not accompanied by odour etc

Fingers crossed to all who has commented on your journeys xx
