Hi just looking for some advice or reassurance of anyone who's been through the same or any experience. I've had a UTI at pretty much every appointment now, I'm 35+5. I've been prescribed daily dose of preventative antibiotics up until I give birth however was back in triage Monday another UTI so now dosage is upped again to treat infection. Had kidney ultrasound today and I just can't settle I'm thinking the worst (cancer) and I can't stop crying and panicking. I did ask the sonographer if it was something serious she did say no but I don't know if that was to put my mind at ease over the weekend till my next appointment Tuesday. Sonographer did say my kidneys were full and had me empty my bladder to see if they emptied and then scanned my right kidney again once I'd done that however never said anything after that. Sorry for the ramble my heads all over the place just looking for someone who may have been through the same? ThanksSmile

I’ve had recurrent UTIs since 30 weeks (literally the bane of my life, up every 30 mins during the night for a wee and have had no sleep infact will get more sleep with a newborn so counting down the days) I’m 35+ 5 now, I’ve begged and pleaded with docs who didn’t want to prescribe me anything at first so kept me like that for weeks as I’m allergic to penicillin, finally lost my shit on Tuesday that I needed something to try clear infection as it was basically ruining my life and I started peeing blood, had my kidneys scanned which doc was fine with, have another scan on Monday, he’s had to prescribe me penicillin in a tiny dose for me to take daily, my midwife said it’s very common in pregnancy because you can’t empty your bladder properly- try not to worry, I know it’s easier said than done but don’t start thinking cancer or anything like that, you’ve got a fairly big baby in there now who’s taking up loads of space and pressing down on the bladder 😁

@Lorw sorry to hear your suffering too, glad I'm not only 1 going through it I'm losing my mind with it all. Don't think all the hormones help when I'm thinking daft things it's just been 1 Uti after another, constant anti biotics then waiting around for this kidney scan today I've worked myself up all week over it. Hopefully when these babies appear we won't have any trouble Smile

Sorry to hear your news. I've always had loads of UTIs during pregnancies. They're such a pain. It's my understanding that the sonographer has to be honest with you. Therefore, if she says there's nothing to worry about, there isn't.

@firsttimeclock thank you, they are! I keep trying to tell myself that it feels like Tuesday is forever away.

Just to add a bit of reassurance, I should think the reason you were given an ultrasound is that having recurrent UTIs can increase your risk of getting a kidney infection too. So they probably just wanted to check that your kidneys were ok (and give you stronger antibiotics if needed) - rather than thinking that a big kidney problem like cancer was causing the UTIs!

@InvisibleDragon thank you. Just been hard to rationalise I've been thinking up all sorts.
