I’m almost 6 weeks pregnant and went in for an ultrasound at my first doctors appointment and the only thing that was visible was the gestational sac. The previous week I visited the ER and they also did an ultrasound and it was the same, no embryo or yolk sac. I have completely convinced myself something is wrong. I had a miscarriage 6 years ago and have a little ptsd. Anyways, I’m due for another ultrasound in two weeks and I’m just so fearful it’s still going to be empty! Anyone with similar stories?

I take it you're not in the UK?

We see a lot of this sort of thing happen when folk go for early ultrasounds- dating pregnancies is tough and you're probably just not as far along as you think you are. The majority of the time, everything turns out just fine.

It's just way too early to see anything.

If you aren't yet 6 weeks then you still have a chance that things will turn out fine - unless you are absolutely certain on your ovulation date then just a few days makes a huge difference

(For comparison though at 6+1 with my twins you could see the yolk sac, foetal pole and heartbeat but I had IVF so dates were accurate)

Also depends on how big your gestational sac measured - there is a cut off that once it gets to a certain size if nothing can be seen then the prognosis is not as good

Sorry if that doesn't give you hope etc but I found when it was me going through similar that I preferred not to be given false hope x

No I am not in the UK and I have just been so concerned bc really no one seems to know how many weeks I am. When I went to the ER they said 4-6 weeks. Then at my actual doctor it was 5 weeks and 6 days and the sac was still empty I guess I was expecting to see something.
