Brown spotting after bowel movement

Good evening ladies

I’m 13 weeks tomorrow. In the last 4 weeks I’ve had brown spotting 1-2 times a week. Has US done baby is fine, but it worries me because it happens every single week and and last 1-2 days. I’ve been a bit constipated and had spotting after bowel movement.

Midwife said as long as it’s brown and not red not to worry. What can it be since it happens every week?

Has a doctor examined your cervix?

I attended EPU last week (around 5-6 weeks) with brown spotting and was told that my cervix showed significant cervical ectropion which apparently can cause spotting/bleeding, I've also got constipation and they said it could be straining that irritates it too as notice mine more after having bowels open. (Sorry if TMI!)

Hi @feliznavidad2 thank you for your reply. No I’ve not had my cervix examined.

I’ve had the spotting with and without hard bowel movement so don’t really understand it ☹️

@K2012 If it carries on, you could always ask them to have a look maybe? I had spotting when pregnant with my son four years ago too, but wasn't examined then and spotted on and off until about 26 weeks

Hope it settles for you soon, it's mentally very draining x

@feliznavidad2 I’ve mentioned it quite a few times but just been told not to worry if it’s not bright red blood.

It is very mentally draining and stressing ☹️

I would see if you can get checked @K2012 - just for reassurance as I'm sure everything will be absolutely fine Flowers

You can ring your midwife or even triage x

Hi @babyboybluex a thank you for your reply. I have mentioned it to midwife 3-4 times and been to EPU twice and they haven’t done anything about it. I keep getting told as long as it’s not fresh red blood not to worry 🤷🏻‍♀️

Even spoke to GP who said I should speak to a gynecology consultant at the hospital (I have an appointment in 3 weeks) and they don’t do anything about it now.

It freaks me out because I have this spotting every week ☹️
