12 week scan anxiety

Hi everyone,

I have my 12 week scan on Monday and I'm absolutely terrified! I had an awful drawn out miscarriage at the start of the year and I have been panicking ever since I found out I was pregnant.
I know logically there's nothing I can do but all the scans I had in my last pregnancy were bad news so it's hard to shake the idea that this will be the same.
I guess I'm just looking for any tips on how to stop being so nervous (if possible!) I just don't know how I'll cope if this is bad news again

Have you tired any relaxation apps? I find Headspace works well for me at night.
Distract yourself with a good book, a leisurely swim or walk in woodland.
You'll always have that bit of anxiety, you just have to find your own way of managing it.
If there is bad news, don't bottle up inside. Lean on your partner and family support. Don't hesitate to contact your gp or a support charity if you need to x

I don't have any advice but my 12 week scan is on Monday too!

I've just been trying to distract myself & keep busy so I can't think about it. Fingers crossed all goes well for us both!

I have mine tomorrow morning and to be honest I'm bricking it! But there is nothing I can do to change any outcome. I keep thinking that most do go well and it's not productive to work myself up (I'm not good at taking my own advice haha).

Thanks everyone that's all really good advice. I'm hoping if the scan is ok I'll start to relax a bit, right now I can't even let myself imagine getting to have a baby In case it all goes wrong again!
Aww good luck ladies!! Let me know how your scans go, we all must have similar due dates :) fingers crossed it's good news all round

@Mugcake hope your scan went well!

@SisterA it did thank you! We have a very very wriggley little baby! 😊 they wouldnt get into the right position though so the midwife couldn't measure the fluid for the downs etc test but said I can have the quad test in a few weeks. . .I'm sure I'll be a nervous wreck before that too but right now I'm just so happy there was a happy little bean in there!
How was yours?? x

@Mugcake congrats!!! Mine was the same - couldn't measure in behind the neck so just have to get the blood test. She had my jumping around but just seemed to make my baby less cooperative.

What's your due date? Mines June 5th :)

Mugcake · 23/11/2021 15:12

@SisterA haha me too, had to lie on each side, wiggle my hips even go for a walk and come back but the baby was having none of it!
I'm due june 4th :) how have you been feeling? my morning sickness has finally started to die down which is nice.

I'm feeling okay. The morning sickness is still lingering but I think on its way out. Full of the cold though so kind of hard to tell sometimes.
