I had an emergency section with my DD 4 years ago and I wasn't prepared in the slightest- the pain was horrific and spent 8 days in hospital and then 10 week recovery. I was NOT one of those lucky people who sailed through! It bloody well hurt and I hated it Grin

Unfortunately will be needing another c section in December (vaginal not possible) which will be planned so I want to be as prepared as possible for dealing with the pain again! What are you sure fire tips and tricks for a less painful and speedy recovery? Thank you Smile

My second was better than my first. They even corrected my scar.
You know the tips - rest, rest and more rest!
Have a timetable for pain relief - you’ll need to stock up as you don’t get given anything to take home anymore - take it regularly and alternate what you take.
If you take codeine get lactulose in as constipation is the worst!
Have everything you need in each toilet / if you have more than one.
Set yourself up an area where you will rest in the day and make sure it is stocked with drinks and snacks and the remote!
Slip on slippers! Big pants!
I found it helpful to push up the bed against my husband as getting into sitting was the worst or use a towel to pull yourself up.
I felt relatively normal by 2 weeks after the second. First took me longer. I took it easier with the second!
Be very kind to yourself

My cousin spent her first 2 weeks after getting home IN BED. She didn't even venture downstairs. Just her and baby with hubby doing the running round / house stuff etc and her MiL around now and again for cooking etc. She said it was bliss!

I was up and walking in less than 24 hours and I always swore that getting mobile helped me heal faster baby was in nicu and nobody available to wheel me.
I did have an easy recovery and put it down to that but could just as easily have been luck though.
Fingers firmly crossed for a better experience for you.
