Hi team,
I've spent years reading all thr threads on mumsnet and joined today especially to ask you all for positive stories. I am 5+4 weeks pregnant with my second child. We had been trying for 2 years to concieve and eventually got pregnant via ivf. Yesterday I started bleeding. Not super heavily but like a 'normal period.' Would vary in colour form pink, bright red and brown. I'm also crampy and achey. Nothing unbearable but uncomfortable.

Naturally, I am a mess. So so broken. We miscarried earlier this year this exact same way and I'm convinced history is repeating itself. I don't know what I'm asking you for, but any positive stories, any glimmer of hope I'll take.. My HCG numbers have been solid and as of yesterday morning at 5+3 was at 13500.

Just feeling so broken and cheated. 2021 has been so cruel to my family, just wanted our angel baby ♡

Sorry to hear you're going through this

I am 10 , nearly 11 weeks pregnant and I have been having on and of bleeding since about 5 weeks. Obviously every time I completely panic and think the worst! I've even ended up paying for 2 private scans. All scans I've had have been fine and showed baby with heart beat.

On the scans they could see the reason for the bleeding and I have a hematoma which is causing the bleeding. I also sometimes bleed when I go for a bowel movement. On Saturday I had quite a bit bleed (bright red) had a scan and all was time. It then turned into brown discharge .

I would advise ringing the early pregnancy clinic ans hopefully they will scan you.

Fingers crossed for you and good luck x

Oh bless you, it's so so easy to jump to the worst case scenarios. I had 2 miscarriages before my DD and it sucked the whole joy out of it. First pregnancy bled brown and red blood (lots!) and was scanned. all was fine and no cause ever given for the bleeding

Second time brown spotting around 5/6 weeks and currently 33 weeks pregnant. Bleeding doesn't always mean it's the end of the road. Wishing you the best of luck OP Smile

Thanks so much for responding. It's been a he'll of a 48 hours. Quick question, did you experience any aches or cramps either your bleeds or was it purely blood?
Thanks xx

@Pringle2022 I had mild cramps on and of, especially first pregnancy when I had bleeding.

How are you today ? Are you still bleeding x

mannytomanny · 18/11/2021 19:34

I had cramping and spotting throughout the first trimester and once in the second, healthy baby so far

Pringle2022 · 18/11/2021 19:35

Yup. Not super heavy now. More like water brown discharge but I'm convinced it's happened. I didn't feel sick this morning, my boobs feel better and I just don't feel pregnant =(. Have had some bloods done again but guess I just need to wait for my scan in 10 days to confirm my suspicions.

@Pringle2022 brown isn't always bad !! Usually just old blood , but of course still very worrying ! From what I've read it can be quite normal for symptoms to come and go , eg the sore boobs

I still have my fingers crossed for you ❤

Awful you have to wait 10 days for a scan 😣

Yep I had brown blood around 6 weeks and the worst cramps. In fact I had period cramps until around 11 weeks. She is now 5 tomorrow and currently driving me mental as to excited to sleep. Sending positive vibes that it all works out
