3rd DC labour/induction stories

Due to be induced with DC3 very soon. Dc1 (spontaneous at 41 weeks) and dc2 (induction at 38 weeks) were both quick labours ~2-3 hours.

I've heard a lot of different stories about third births being slower/trickier/unpredictable.

Has anyone got any stories to share? Especially if anyone was induced at 38 weeks or so. I'm dreading the idea of a long labour or being held hostage in hospital whilst dilation happens slowly and then there's no beds etc!

Does the age gap make any difference? Ie does a smaller age gap mean your body is more ready for labour as it did it not so long ago? Had my last DC 2 years ago!

Bumping for you. I’m only 16 weeks with my third so no experience of this yet but interested to hear how others 3rd births have gone too.

Hi!

I've been induced 4 times, never as early as 38wks.

1. 42wks 13hrs (pessary, drip, ventouse, 3rd degree tear and episiotomy)
2. 9yr gap. 41+3 and my only spontaneous labour. Was about 18hrs from first twinge but 6hrs established.

3 17m gap. Induced at 42wks (I was gutted because I expected to be overdue but spontaneous). It was a 2hr labour from waters breaking and the best of all my births. 4 8yr gap. Induced at 40wks due to size. I guess this was my equivalent of an early induction because nothing happened when they broke my waters. So went on the drip. He was born 4hrs after they got me to 4 in 10.

1. 22m gap induced at 41wks due to my age. Same as 3rd. Waters broken and baby born 2hrs later.

1st was 6 hours spontaneous no complications
2nd 8 years later, broken waters, 6 hours again no complications
3rd 20 months later, pessery. 1 hour from 1st twinge to baby in arms.
All at 39 weeks

2nd probably would've been faster if I wasn't so ill at the time had the sick bug just before.
