No heartbeat & measuring smaller than expected

Hi,

I really didn't want to do another thread like this (trust me, there are plenty on the internet!) but I just wanted to see if anyone else is going through a similar thing at the moment.

I had an early scan today in which I thought I should be around 7 weeks. The good news is there was a gestational sac, yolk sac and a foetus. The bad news is the foetus was measuring at 5w4d and there was no heartbeat. I tracked my ovulation and just can't understand how my dates could be so off, so I think baby has stopped growing now.

Is anyone else going through this or does anyone have any positive outcomes? I really didn't think it would affect me as much as it has. I 'prepared' myself for the worst but now realise you can't really prepare yourself at all.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Even if your dates are certain it could be that you ovulated late. In honesty I've had multiple losses and this has never worked out well for me, but, and this is why I post, this thing has happened to my good friend twice and both times her pregnancies were viable.
The only way to really knowing to scan in another week or so. Have they booked you in for another one?

Thank you both. Yes I've got a scan in 10 days which is just going to be the most agonising wait ever.

I appreciate your honesty @Alonelonelylonersbadidea. If I go with my gut, I just don't think it's going to end well, but I'm really hoping there's just a small chance baby is taking a while to get going 😩

Just wanted to update this in case anyone comes across it in the future (so frustrating reading threads that don't give you an outcome!). Unfortunately it wasn't good news for me and there was no growth since my last scan. Will be going in to discuss my options on Monday. Good luck to anyone else who experiences the torment of waiting in between scans xx
