Bleeding after bath

Hi everyone.

I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant. It's my second pregnancy, the first one ended in miscarriage.

Yesterday I had a bath - it was fairly hot but I took my temperature in the bath to make sure my body temperature wasn't above 36 C. A few hours later, during the night, I bled a little - it was light pink blood.

I'm really afraid my hot bath hurt the baby somehow and this is the beginning of a miscarriage. I called the midwife and they've said they'll call me back to book an early scan.

My last pregnancy stopped developing around this time.

I don't know what I'm asking really... maybe just reassurance from similar experiences... or if you think this really could be an MC :(

Lots and lots of women have small bleeds in pregnancy and don't miscarry.

And having a warm, or even hot, bath cannot hurt your baby.

Unfortunately the only way to know what's happening is to go for a scan, and I very much hope you have a positive outcome.

I'm sure a bath couldn't have done any harm, if it's any consolation I've had two previous pregnancies, one I didn't bleed and miscarried and one I did bleed quite a bit the first couple of months and she is 14 months old now. It's so hard after loss, I booked a couple of early scans after my first loss to get me through the awful anxiety ridden first few months of the following pregnancy. It's hard, SO hard, but this doesn't mean anything is wrong and certainly not because of a bath. Good luck 💓

Please try not to beat yourself up, IF something has gone wrong (my heart goes out to you if it has but as PPs have said there are lots of cases where bleeding turns out to be fine) it is NOT because of the bath.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome xxx
