Thankyou all.. still no sign of him 🙃 had quite strong contractions in the night, they gave me a paracetamol & also a muscle relaxant so I could get some sleep- since then he seems to have changed his mind a bit 🤣 so we are just waiting, bouncing on the ball.. some contractions but nothing major! Honestly I was so worried about the arrival at hospital, waters breaking, contractions etc- at this point in time I feel like I really over worried! For me the contractions are a bit like having an upset stomach more than period pain.. back ache aswell. Really not as bad as I was anticipating! Hoping this evening & tonight things pick up as they’re giving me until tomorrow morning before they offer a helping hand in speeding things up. Another thing is that I had ‘butterflies’ the last few days- you know like when you’re nervous- I thought it was just my mind playing tricks but they seem to be part of my contractions aswell so if any of you are getting that fizzy/tingly feeling it might be soon! Xo

Ah exciting @sjxoxo hope something happens for you soon!
Can you try colostrum harvesting to try and get things going whilst you're waiting?
I am getting so impatient about having my growth scan on Tuesday and seeing obstetrician, I really just want to know how big he is getting so I can make some decisions about if/when to go for an induction or section! The waiting is so hard.

spttc · 09/01/2022 20:21

Just catching up.

Best of luck @sjxoxo 🤞🤞

I'm feeling pretty anxious about the whole thing now. I don't have a "birth plan" as such. I guess I'll sort of think about it this week. 37 weeks today. Think I'll be in work til I have the baby. It's all just very....busy 🙈😣 finally got myself a birthing ball so at least Iv started that. I just don't feel ready at all.

@sjxoxo good luck! Hope you're not waiting much longer and all goes smoothly.

@spttc honestly try not to stress about a birth plan. I did one first time but haven't got one this time. My plan is literally go with the flow. When are you starting maternity leave?

For what it's worth, I feel less prepared this time than I did first time and I have experience this time! 39+5 today. Using up annual leave before maternity leave starts next week. Decided on balance to keep DS in nursery as the pros outweighed the cons in the end so I'm enjoying some downtime while I can.

spttc · 10/01/2022 10:05

@BobbleWobble1 I won't really have maternity leave as such, I work in family business so it's kind of unheard of lol 🙈😣🙄 I'm going to work this week and then broach the topic next week I think when I'm 38 weeks, just say I need to work from home/part time/as needed. But can't do full time anymore for a few weeks as I'm very tired. My plan would be I can bring baby into the office if needs be from about a month old 😬, have a bed for her there etc.....I have a big private office to myself. I've set myself tasks today though feel better including making a simple birth plan.

37 weeks today! Not long to go now!! How is everyone feeling? I am feeling so so big now, turning over in bed is such an ordeal!

I finally got my letter through with my date for my section which will be on the 27th! (Due date is 31st)

I also still haven't had even a drop of colostrum yet despite trying every day.

Tangfastic91 · 10/01/2022 13:52

Another one with lack of success on the colostrum harvesting front here! I guess I'll just wait for the hormones to do the work once baby is here 🤞

winterbabyrose · 10/01/2022 14:58

When is everyone's due date? I am 37+1 today with a due date of the 30th. Time is flying, I can't believe we are all going to have our little ones soon!

Trinacham · 10/01/2022 17:19

@winterbabyrose my due date is the day before yours! It is going so quick isn't it!? I have a final growth scan on 21st. If baby is still growing at the same rate he was I will be induced no later than 40 - 40+6 (diet controlled gestational diabetes), I'm hoping things will start by themselves.

Alle1991 · 10/01/2022 17:57

@winterbabyrose 38 weeks on Wednesday, I’m praying I don’t go over 40 weeks. I really don’t want to be induced, first sweep booked for 2 weeks today

sjxoxo · 10/01/2022 18:33

Hello all, just to say baby boy arrived this morning at 8.30ish, he did indeed get stuck in my pelvis so we had a Caesarian but not really urgently as he didn’t seem bothered so it wasn’t too rushed. I spent a lot of time pushing & trying to get him through the pelvis so more annoyed about the wasted effort 😂 all I will say is that I did have an epidural and it was bloody brilliant- I had it at about 3-4cm dilated, (only paracetamol before that) and I literally cannot praise it enough. In any case he’s here & doing great. Excited to hear all your stories soon! Xxxxxxx

thecapitalsunited · 10/01/2022 19:20

Congrats @sjxoxo! Hope you’re enjoying all those newborn cuddles.

DoctorBambino · 10/01/2022 20:09

Congratulations @sjxoxo! I might be joining you soon! My waters broke at 1.30 today, exactly 37 weeks today so have had some steroid pills (thought it would be an injection!?) and have been allowed home as no sign of contractions. Will be having a now semi elective section at some point tomorrow!!

All feeling very surreal!

LilmissCa · 10/01/2022 20:40

Scottishgal85 · 10/01/2022 21:05

Alle1991 · 10/01/2022 22:23

@sjxoxo congratulations on your arrival, doesn’t sound like the most straightforward labour so glad all is ok

@DoctorBambino good luck x

sjxoxo · 10/01/2022 23:09

Thanks lovely ladies. He’s doing well! It was more a struggle for me 😂 his heart rate was very stable the whole time whereas mine was a different story! All ok now; we are just having a snuggle watching Line of Duty 😂 congrats @DoctorBambino!! Let us know how it you go Xox

Tangfastic91 · 11/01/2022 08:17

SouthwestSis · 11/01/2022 08:40

Congratulations @sjxoxo! How are you feeling this morning?
Best of luck @DoctorBambino!

Im so excited the morning of my growth scan has finally arrived so we can make a plan for delivering my (not so) little one!
It's going to be quite strange but also useful useful know a bit more precisely how long I've got left of mat leave to chill!

winterbabyrose · 11/01/2022 08:55

Congratulations @sjxoxo and good luck for today @DoctorBambino, how exciting!!!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/01/2022 09:14

Congrats @sjxoxo lovely you're home and snuggling!

Good luck @DoctorBambino hope all goes well today

spttc · 11/01/2022 13:45

Congrats @sjxoxo 🙌🙌 what weight was he in the end? Was it close to what they said. Interested as I had a scan this morning.

@winterbabyrose I have the same due date as you. I think there was a few here with that date - Jan 30th?

OP posts:
sjxoxo · 11/01/2022 23:43

@spttc he was 8lbs4oz so yes they weren’t far off with his predicted weight - he was born at 39+3, so had put on a few hundred grams since the final growth scan at week 37; so about right give or take maybe 100g!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 we are still in the maternity clinic- going home Saturday! In France you’re in for 4-5 days standard. Seeing as the labour was long (arrived Saturday evening) it will end up being a week! Luckily got the iPad & some good series 😬

A little godsend that I’ve found mega useful- baby boy loves breastfeeding with a nipple shield. When I came out of C sec, I was totally away with the fairies but a nurse latched him onto my boob for a bit in the recovery area and she automatically used a nipple shield (I guess easier if mum is under heavy drugs 😬) & we’ve been using it ever since. Zero sore nipples & I also think will help if I can pump bottles later so he might take bottle easier! I had looked into nipple shells before and thought ‘that’ll never work’.. genius!

Other essential item I couldn’t live without this week - lip balm. Never have I been so ‘dry’ in all my life as during labour - for the 1st stage and afterwards & even now a tube of lip balm is a slice of heaven 😂.. it’s the little things in life!!!!

Xox

spttc · 12/01/2022 10:47

@sjxoxo Iv been told 7.2lbs for my girl ....but I've heard of huge variances with some people between what they're told and the actual weight when they come out 😂 I have my fingers & toes crossed 🤞😬

Any other developments with anyone? Still bouncing away on my ball lol 37+3
