Hi all just wanting some reassurance whilst I wait for the epau to open at 8.30.

I'm 13+3 today woke up this morning go get ds ready for school felt like I wet myself sorry for tmi went to bathroom to see bright red blood running down legs. Feel heartbroken that this might be a miscarriage has anyone had anything similar?

@Newdreams I've literally just recovered from this nightmare that happened to myself on Tuesday! It wasn't the same level of blood, however, bright red and when I was wiping on the toilet. I was seen straight away at Triage and they did a speculum to confirm my cervix was closed!

I was a sobbing mess and asked for a scan in which they organised so quickly - our baby was alive, kicking, waving with a strong healthy heartbeat. They gave me an AntiD injection because of my blood type and I was kept in overnight as precaution and to keep an eye on things.

Had a small bleed at 3am where the doctor again confirmed my cervix was closed and he was not concerned by the amount of blood or colour. Was discharged from hospital at 2pm.

Was getting ready for bed and had another bleed which calmed down quickly so went to sleep, woke up and it was brown discharge which completely stopped. I've had no more bleeding since yesterday but popping to day assessment this morning for another AntiD injection and hopefully a reassurance scan.

They believe the blood could be from the placenta growing, however, it was hard to tell because they could only see so much on the ultrasound.

It's impossible not to panic as it is terrifying! Blood is not normal but very common they said and trust me you will be in safe hands and the best place once you are seen. I hope everything will be ok, please be kind to yourself ❤️

Can you phone Triage as opposed to EPU? Since you are past 12 weeks they should see you at the main hospital. Big hugs from me x

Thank you for your message. I could call triage didn't even think of that I haven't had official 12 week scan but had early pregnancy scan at the epau. Thank you for messaging hope everything goes well for u too

@Newdreams 100% give Triage a call and worse case they will say phone but EPU... I really don't think they will though.

I recon they will do a speculum to check your cervix is closed and see if the bleeding is from that! They don't always organise a scan there and then but see if you can push for one as that will reassure you massively.

Take care and let me know how it goes ❤️

Hi @Newdreams yes me. 13+2 (last friday morning) bright red bleed - no cramping or pain. Phoned EPU and brought in for a scan 2 days later. continued spotting over that time, turned dark red and brown. No bleeds before that point. I had what's called an extra chrionic haemorrhage (ECH) basically a sac of blood in my uterus. No where near baby or any risk, seemingly had burst and was clearing out. Baby kicking about and measuring great. All fine and had my anti-d (as rhesus negative). Possibility of continued spotting although body might reabsorb but absolutely nothing to worry about.
Please try not to worry too much (I know how hard that can be) bleeding is absolutely more common than you think. Multiple reasons why but the internet never seems to tell you that other than scary stuff! Wishing you all the best and sending hand holds ❤

Are you ok @Newdreams? x

Hi I am so sorry for the late update. Thank you for ur messages they offered me a lot of hope and comfort. I did have a scan at hospital and thankfully saw baby kicking and wriggling so much we were able to hear the heartbeat for the first time too. In terms of the bleeding they unsure as to what might have caused it they have booked me in to see a dr next Friday just to makesurs everything is still OK. The bleeding seems to have turned to spotting now so hopefully it's trailing off now. Just hoping for the best now. Feeling exhausted after the emotional day it's been. Sorry once again for late update was at hospital until about 8pm and my ds was really unsettled when I got back. Thank you or your support on this thread and ur right apparently bleeding I pregnancy is so common and not always something leading to great concern contrary to Google.

Thanks for messaging. It's so horrible isn't it? But glad your baby is doing well too.

Reading your OP took me right back to the moment in my second pregnancy this happened to me, and I can’t forget how terrified I was Flowers

I know that it can be awful news but there is hope too. I was so pleased to read your most recent post OP. For me there was a good outcome too, and DS is downstairs getting croissant crumbs all over his homework, having had a straightforward birth and subsequent 14 years.

Thank you for sharing it's really reassuring to hear pregnancy went well after the scare. We had such a hard time conceiving and the huge blood loss yesterday was scary. I had a call this morning as I need to go back for an anti d injection as I'm rhesus negative blood group but other than that I feel well atm.

@Newdreams Sooooo glad baby is well and the bleeding has calmed down! Take it easy and be kind to yourself.

I was in Triage yesterday and they confirmed my bleeding is from a small hematoma which should hopefully be gone by my 20 week scan. Have they looked into this for you at all? It can be picked up on a scan x

No they had a look at the scan said they can't see anything obvious causing the bleeding or the amount of it I took pictures of it with me so they have arranged for a follow up with a consultant next Friday but as the bleeding was settling throughout the day they just said to wait and see. The dr I saw yesterday said a lot of times the bleeding can be left undiagnosed of cause but main thing is baby looks well so we will keep an eye on it. I'm going in again today for the anti d injection and just going to try and rest it out today. Had a very complicated pregnancy birth and after birth with my ds so everything makes me more anxious now. Hope your haematoma settles soon and hope ur baby is OK.
