I weighed myself this morning & I am 5lb up from a week ago - I can actually see in my face which is crazy. I'm 31 weeks pregnant & up to this point had not gained much weight total (under 10lb) - is this cause for concern? haven't eaten differently this week at all.. thanks!

You just had a catch up week, might correct a little also. But it’s still not much weight overall - I’ve gained 11 lbs total at 25 weeks and while it feels like a lot I’m still just under the lower threshold of recommended weight gain. Everyone’s pregnancy is different but it doesn’t sound like 15lbs total at 30 weeks can possibly be an issue. It’s amazing how fast your body can put on weight when pregnant Blush.
Watch out for it being fluids I suppose, suddenly swelling up with fluid is probably worth telling your midwife.

Hi op

I think it's worth mentioning to your midwife or doctor. It's likely normal due to your small weight gain so far but it's better safe than sorry.
I didn't gain anything in the first trimester and now gain more each week than I would like about 1.5lbs per week my total gain is 12lbs at 26 weeks.

I read that beyond 2lbs gain a week is something to discuss with your doctor.

I've had some weeks where I've gained 1-1.5kg, then I don't seem to gain anything for a week or two afterwards. Overall, it averages out to the recommended 1lb per week, so I'm not worried. It's just a bit of a shock at first to see such a jump in the scale!

Bear in mind that if you had a really salty or carb heavy meal yesterday, your body will be holding onto a little extra water, or if your bowels are a bit slow, it could just be a bit of extra poop weight.

Try weighing again tomorrow and see if you are still 5lb up
