Haemorrhoids and veins BEFORE pregnancy

TTC first baby. 31 yr old. Normal weight, very active, eat well, no problems with constipation.

I’ve had haemorrhoids on and off since my teens. Probably get a flare up twice a year. Once had them injected to remove, but they came back few months later. Blush

I’m very vein-y. Had varicose veins removed in my legs by injection in my late teens - fairly successfully. Few still there/came back. I can feel ?varicose veins under my skin around my mons pubis. Blush

With this history - Ive got dreaded ideas of pregnancy and me being one big varicose pile. My mum and two sisters don’t seem to share my history so can’t ask them for advice!

Is there anyone out there who had a similar history and can share what happened to them during pregnancy? Was it horrendous?
Thank you

Yes. Sorry. (But I have three kids so I went back for more twice …)

Thank you - how bad was it? Blush

Very painful. After the birth in the first pregnancy very painful. Then in the second (can’t remember the third in any detail), very painful during the pregnancy. I got some steroid cream prescribed from the doctor from memory and some fybogel, Drinking lots of water helped.

I had bad veins too and had them removed. I then had twins and they came back even worse. Confused I had them removed again two years ago and they haven't come back as badly yet but my legs are a bit bumpy.

Yes I had haemorrhoids removed after the first pregnancy which in hindsight was a complete waste of time as they came back with the second.
I have a big varicose vein on my leg and the doctor told me once there was no point in having it removed until I’d had all my children.

Gahhh it’s a dead cert then really isn’t it. Any helpful tips from anyone? Eg Did anyone use stockings etc in pregnancy to try and prevent them?

Or should I just start saving now for removal surgery once done having babies 😆

@Sausage222 I’ve had a big old varicose vein in my calf for over a decade and was also told not to remove it until after I’d had kids. Now I’m 16 weeks pregnant and slightly dreading what it will become! Hopefully the stockings can keep it in check - I’ve been wearing them for 10 years, it doesn’t stop the vein but it definitely alleviates the ache, so you could give that a try. :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy @Rolledthedice

Not so much varicose veins but I’ve had haemorrhoids most of my adult life too (also despite not suffering from constipation/ having good eating habits etc) and pregnancy didn’t make them any worse. They looked considerably worse directly after giving birth but went back to normal quite quickly. Fingers crossed for you xx
