Quick poll: fully engaged at 36 weeks with baby #2, when did your baby arrive?

First baby born at 36+4, I'm currently 36+2 with second and my midwife has just told me that he is almost fully engaged. I am hideously uncomfortable and I have been for weeks now - braxton hicks, backache and lightning crotch are my constant companions.

So, come on, how long do I have left?

(If anyone says they were in the same position and had to be induced at 42 weeks I'm going to weep)

Urgh - I feel like this too.

HiScore · 11/11/2021 17:35

My first baby was born at 37+0 and my second at 39+1

I considered myself overdue after 37 weeks with my second 🤣

mumofmunchkin · 11/11/2021 18:53

I was in the same position with my second, and he arrived at 40+2. I've gone overdue with all 3 kids though, I think that's just how I cook them!

purplepoppet92 · 11/11/2021 19:48

This was me and I'm now 40+2. Apparently it's common for them to engage early in first pregnancy xx

Thanks for replies! Not making me optimistic for any relief before December - argh! I've been convinced this one would be a bit early the whole way through. I don't think I can handle another 4-6 weeks of this!

Oh I don't want to sound smug writing this but my first was engaged a good few weeks before being born (39+6) but fortunately my only problems was a waddle and just not sleeping comfortable 😬

This pregnancy is completely different to my first so I'm not expecting such a smooth ride this time round 😅 fingers crossed you're not struggling for much longer! 🤞🏻 try lots of big walks 😄

CloverField · 11/11/2021 20:22

Same with my second, born at 41 weeks

But... I used this time to just relish my first born... I knew it would never again just be us.. I slept whenever I could, (good job as DD was a very very unhappy, unsettled baby until 6 months).. I still remember this time fondly.. And I had SPD, still being sick, and PUPPS... Try and enjoy this time OP. Sending hugs.. X

@Marylou62 ah you're completely right, I shouldn't be wishing the time away. My daughter (nearly 3) is being very clingy and is going through a bit of a regression, lots of "I'm a baby" and asking for cuddles. I know I should be making the most of this time, so thank you for the reminder!
