Coming off the depo

Hi, I am hoping somebody on here has some knowledge or advice for me
I had one shot of the depo injection and instantly regretted it once I read the horror stories about delayed fertility.

My shot should be due this Saturday but I started bleeding two days ago and I am still bleeding (feels like a period)
I have read that it takes some women up to a year to get their period back
Is it a good sign that I'm already bleeding? I don't want to ttc yet but it does scare me the thought of it potentially taking up to two years (from what I've read online)
Xx

Yes it's a good sign. I think the longer you are on it the longer it takes to get out of your system. I only stopped having periods after 2 or 3 shots of it.

When you went to get the first one didn't they run thru the possible side effects, including how long it takes for your fertility to come back? It seems strange that you only found out once you'd had it. Theyre not "horror stories". I've been on it for 10 years with a one year break and its always been outlined very clearly for me.

Fwiw, even after id been on it 8 years, my periods came back after 4-5 months. I wasn't trying to get pregnant so can't comment on actual fertility though.

I had my third son nearly 5 months ago and they offered me the depo in labour ward - I took it just knowing its a contraception!
Wish I hadn't!!!! I am still bleeding to this day! It's getting me down now to be honest! Dr are trying me on medication to reduce the bleeding but it's making me feel unwell on that. 🤦🏼‍♀️ just wish I never had it.

Hi op,

I was on the depo for over a year before I came off it with the sole purpose of getting pregnant. I stopped taking it in the September and was pregnant by the end of February!
Long term use is supposed to make it hard for fertility but most of the people I spoke to about fertility after depo had said that they all bounced back quite fertile after coming off it.

Hope this helps!

I was on it for two years when I was in my 20's and it took over 2 years for my periods to come back. I felt very lucky when they did, some people lose them permanently.
