Sweep

Went for midwife appointment today she offered me a sweep, which was unsuccessful as she said it wasn’t open enough. Been fine all day since but been toilet and have had thick discharge with a small bit of very light pink blood. Tried to call triage but can’t get through. Is this normal? Or should I be worried as she said the sweep didn’t work and she couldn’t do it?

Anyone experienced this?

I would say it’s normal, if she couldn’t do the sweep it sound like she still tried so might have disturbed some of your mucus plug. Nothing to worry about though!

Can I ask how many weeks you are? Just wondering when midwives start offering sweeps (just so I'm prepared!!)

I had a sweep on my due date which the midwife didn’t think would be very successful as my cervix was still closed and I had a low Bishops Score, that was Thursday lunchtime. Friday afternoon I started to get some pink discharge which was there every time I went to the loo, and started to get on/off mild contractions from Friday night. Lost my mucus plug on Saturday night, went into Labour properly early hours of Monday and baby was born late Monday! So it sounds pretty normal to me and could be the start of something so exciting. Try and get as much rest as you can, I know it’s hard but you really appreciate your body being rested when things get going!

@Dollywilde was your pink discharge like mucus mine didn’t seem that kind of consistency but I do feel uncomfortable since she tried to do a sweep. She said she couldn’t do it as it was too closed but can that trigger something to start?
