So, this is a bit of a long one but I have no where else to turn. I'm 14weeks4 days and had a problem since Saturday 30th October. My midwife, hospital, epu etc are no use at all and I don't have my consultant appointment until the 24th November so I'm just sat here panicking over everything and have had no advice or reassurance at all since Sunday 31st October.
I had my booking scan on the 29th october, all well, baby doing great, healthy heart rate so was great no problem. Rushed into hospital Saturday morning as woke covered in blood, as though my waters had broke, went to the bathroom for a wee (the joys) and passed something huge with lots of blood, assumed it was my baby. No pain, nothing, just happened. Paramedics, husband and my mum who rushed down at 3am were adamant it was an empty sac with a hole in it. Got to hospital expecting the worst but scan showed baby was fine, strong heartbeat and cervix closed and was sent home. I havent stopped bleeding since. I dont know what it means or what to do, am I going to lose my baby? No one seems to want to help me and I'm not coping mentally at all.

Does anyone have any advice at all or been through similar?
Don't recommend a&e, or epu or anything because it is actually pointless. I have tried everything.

My first pregnancy was a breeze, and I mean a breeze. This has been 9 years of waiting and finally fell pregnant with the help of fertility clinic and now I cant settle, or feel happy.

Hi,
I'm so sorry you're going through this.
I had similar at 12 weeks. I went for my 12 week scan and everything was perfect, got home then a few hours later started getting period like pains, went to the toilet and was bleeding heavily with lots of large clots. Rushed to the EPU and they checked and cervix was closed. Booked me in for a scan next morning and baby was fine but had a huge subchorionic haematoma under the baby. They're monitoring it but so far all is ok, I've stopped bleeding and baby still good but haematoma still big so I've pretty much been on bed rest for a month.
I'm keeping everything crossed all is well for you xxx

Hey teatime, I'm sorry you had to go through that but so happy they are keeping an eye on it for you. They haven't said anything about one of those for me, nothing at all, just kind of being left to it and the comment I get is, if it happens it happens nothing we can do. Its so frustrating tbh. Thanks so much for your support xxx

I would have said phone epu again and explain the bleeding is heavy and how worried you are but you say you've done that.
A lot of bleeding in pregnancy is normal from what I've been told and as long as they've checked for closed cervix and baby seemed fine at last scan then try to hold on to that.
When is your next routine scan?
I completely understand about the anxiety, mine is sky high and have asked for perinatal support, is that a possibility? Also have you had your first midwife appointment yet? Xxx

I also had a subchronic haemotoma with DC3 and was told I could bleed for a while after passing the initial clot. I'd be ringing them up and pushing for some sort of clarification from them. I was lucky my consultant booked me in for a scan at 16 weeks which showed all the blood had passed.

Could you contact another hospital’s EPU or pay for a private scan? Unfortunately this sounds like the only solution to give you any sort of peace of mind. I’m surprised they haven’t agreed to scan you sooner than the 24th, that’s ages away. I know I’ve had to push quite hard to get some of my early scans and it does suck to have to advocate so hard for yourself, but I found this to work for me. Pushy but polite

My next scan is 24th November so I'll be around 16 odd weeks as I have been put under consultant led care. I'll be brutally honest I find it very confusing with the way things are run here in NI as back in England you could see anyone at anytime. Here it's like, we xant see you till you are 16 weeks, they can see you if you are under that, but the midwife can see you.. etc its like Jesus 🤣🤦‍♀️. Yeah I had my booking scan with midwife on the 29th October xxx

There's only so much pushing you can do, I cry, I argue, im polite, it just doesn't seem to make a difference. Iv actually emailed a private hospital yesterday funnily enough so waiting to hear back. Dont get me wrong, epu saw me, scanned me and said baby was fine, see you later. No one ever actually looks into anything. Love the fact my baby is fine but it doesn't bloody help me ha.

I really feel for you. I didn’t realise you were in NI, perhaps a private scan could put your mind at ease. Good luck!

I find it was definitely a lot easier and more help back home in England tbf, even hearing stories now that everyone seems to be getting what they need even through covid so I don't know what the difference is here 🤦‍♀️. But yes, hopefully theu get back to me soon with pricing etc and I can book it. Have realised even going for a number two, tmi sorry, that it makes the bleeding worse! So confusing.

Ah I'm sorry I didn't realise you were in NI, it does sound like they're not as hands on earlier on.
I do hope all works out well for you and you get some answers very soon xxx
