Ondansetron and constipation

I’ve been on ondansetron since 6 weeks pregnant (Now 19 weeks) I’m desperately trying to reduce how often I take it as my bowels are a mess 😩. I currently take 4mg every other day (taking cyclizine regularly), but I’m in a vicious cycle. I have a good day, but the next day I’m that constipated and full of wind I feel sick so end up taking ondansetron again which doesn’t help the constipation. I have tried prune juice but I feel like I will explode with wind after drinking it. Please give me all your pregnancy safe constipation/trapped wind remedies.

I had to completely stop the ondansetron. Ended up having a few days off work to break the cycle. Horrible; wouldn’t take again…

Have you tried taking lactulose along side? That worked best for me, I think you can get it over the counter in the pharmacy though they may require a prescription since you're pregnant

I have been using fybogel which you can get without a prescription, it doesn't taste too bad and helps a bit but because I literally eat half a loaf of bread every day (I'm 8 weeks 5 days) nothing much helps! I just started ondansetron today after failed attempts with cyclizine, doxylamine and metaclopramide, nothing has really helped the nausea so far, I'm raying the ondasetron will x

Hiya, @LW89 in this pregnancy I took ondansetron 3 times a day weeks 6-24 and couldn't have survived without lactulose. Safe in pregnancy but difficult to stomach when feeling sick. Ondansetron pretty much stopped me from being able to digest food and it move along my GI tract so they swapped me to metoclopramide which was a big relief. However, ondansetron is absolutely amazing at reducing nausea and vomiting so it's about balancing the pros and cons. Good luck, it's bloody miserable feeling so sick and constipated
