Misdiagnosed miscarriage?

Hi, i recently posted but never got a response, i wasn't sure if i had done something wrong 🙈
So August 29th i had what i thought was a miscarriage at 5-6 weeks, heavy bleeding but no pain, went to a & e there was nothing in my womb, doctor said it had all passed through and basically go home and deal with it. I had what i thought was my first period after the miscarriage on the 1st October. I bled very lightly for a day and a half and there was no clots or heaviness like i was told to expect. 2 weeks ago we found out we were expecting again and should be again around 5-6 going by the last bleed. However my stomach looks around 4-5 months pregnant and i am feeling slight movements inside. Could it be a misdiagnosed miscarriage? Or maybe a twin pregnancy that wasn't picked up before because it was too early to show on the scan? Has anyone ever been through this before? I am trying to ring the epu to see if they will let me have a scan early. 😊🤞

When you went to A&E how did they know there was nothing in your womb? Did they scan you?

CornishGem1975 · 08/11/2021 11:27

I had a massive bleed at 5 weeks, was scanned and there wasn't evidence of anything, so they did repeat scans over the coming weeks. I now have a toddler draped across me...

It's possible but I think it's more likely that you're just bloated and the movement that you're feeling is gas bubbles, all very common in early pregnancy! Cycles can be very odd after a miscarriage too. If EPU won't scan you, you could always book a private scan. Congratulations either way OP, hope all goes well from here Flowers

Didn't you get a scan to check the last time? I'd definitely be trying for a scan now. Good luck.

This happened to my sister. Diagnosed miscarriage. Four months later she was certain she could feel a baby moving (has older children). To be honest, everybody thought she was imagining things because she wanted it so much. She booked in for private scan and was 22 weeks pregnant!

Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Mistakes do happen, interested to ask if you only found out 2 weeks ago but now think you look 4/5onths pregnant then were you aware of a protruding stomach prior to the latest positive test? And if so what did you think it was?

Obviously a scan is going to be the only way to check but would be great to just breeze through the first 4 months! 🤞🏻

Maybe the bleeding on 1st October was implantation and you haven’t had a normal period between the two pregnancies? Bloating is really common during the first trimester, as is gas so that might explain your ‘bump’. Best thing is probably to book a private scan if you can to put your mind at ease. Either way, congratulations!

Go and have a Private scan! Xx

Only way to know is to have a scan, I'd either call EPU or get a private one.
Did you test negative after the bleed/scan by EPU? They should have advised you to test until they went negative.
What were your tests like when you found out about this subsequent pregnancy? Super dark?
