Symptom questions - is this normal? 21 weeks pregnant

Hi everyone! First time mum here and first pregnancy and I just have so many questions. I’m currently 21 weeks. ⚠️ TMI warning ⚠️

Is it normal to feel ‘aware’ of your cervix and your pelvic region? I’ve somehow worried myself I have a short cervix so am going to speak to the midwife tomorrow but I’m worried they’ll think I’m wasting their time. My main symptoms are feeling ‘open’ downstairs (cringing writing this) and the occasional wee leakage and watery, white discharge. But only ever a small, 50p amount really. Anyone had any experience of this and a positive or negative story either way? I feel like I’m always leaking a bit too which is a weird sensation.

Other questions .. stomach pain. Everything I Google seems to lead to the m word. I seem to suffer from all different types of varying stomach pains. I was walking earlier and got a stitch after three miles. It stopped when I stopped, now I’m fine. After eating sometimes I feel very bloated and get painful cramps in my upper abdomen. Other times like now I have a very low level dull pain in my lower abdomen. And when I’m constipated occasionally, I get stabbing pains.

Is this normal for pregnancy? I don’t know if I’m just hyper anxious and aware of everything or a sign of something more sinister.

Thanks in advance 💗

This all sounds normal to me, except for this feeling you describe as “open”? Which piece of your anatomy exactly? Your bladder since your talking about wee leakage? Or do you somehow mean you think you can feel that your cervix is open?!

HopefulRose · 07/11/2021 20:18

@SweetBabyCheeses99 I don’t know, it’s hard to describe! I’ve messaged my midwife.

The stomach pains are big issue for me lately. especially after food. I've my anomaly scan in a few days and I'm bricking it. I suffer terrible with IBS before pregnancy and it was triggered by stress so I'm thinking that this is it. the occasional bottom burp brings release and a cup of peppermint tea
Hope you're doing OK OP

@Maighread thanks Maighread and sorry to hear you’re suffering with stomach problems too. Is this your 20 week scan or another one? I hope it goes well!!!

Thanks @HopefulRose 😊 hope you're doing OK. Yeah it's my 20 week scan which has been a hard wait lol!

The pains all sound normal.

RosieLemonade · 08/11/2021 13:22

@HopefulRose is it wee or discharge? TMI but I get a lot of discharge in pregnancy. When I was pregnant with DD and still being sick a lot at this gestation it used to sometimes feel like it squeezed out when I was being sick. It 100% wasn't wee!

HopefulRose · 09/11/2021 13:49

@Maighread how did your scan go lovely? I had mine yesterday and the sonographer confirmed I don’t have a short cervix. Felt embarrassed for asking but now am reassured.

@RosieLemonade yeah just a fair bit of discharge! I think I’m probably just being sensitive to every little change because I’m so anxious 😬

@HopefulRose aww delighted you got on well Xx Nerves are bound to happen
Baby was perfect but played a little awkward so it was hard to get some measurements. Baby was lying breech so the head measured a little on the petite side so have another scan in 4 weeks. Oddly reassured that they don't want to see me sooner as they mustn't be that concerned?
Everything else was perfect only they werent up for putting on a show 😂

HopefulRose · 09/11/2021 20:59

@Maighread so glad it went well!! Don’t worry, I had the same problem with baby not getting into the right position. Yeah that sounds like nothing to worry about! And you’ll get to see your little one again in a few weeks time :) did you find out what you’re having?

Thanks @HopefulRose I'm a little nervous but reassured by all the posts I've seen here and talking to the mums amongst my circle. We really wanted to know but as soon as the sonographer went to scan the baby completely put its legs together and moved so baby was wanting to keep it secret for a little longer Grin
Did you find out?

It all sounds normal. I couldn't believe how uncomfortable being pregnant was, even before I got big! Round ligament pain used to leave me breathless and the constipation and bloating was a nightmare. Its hard to prevent this as its the hormones that slow down your digestion so drink loads and eat plenty of fibre.

Do lots and lots of pelvic floor exercises now. Your pelvic floor is made up of lots of different muscles, all supporting your pelvic organs (and baby) and its bound to feel odd with the added pressure.

squirrelnutkins1 · 09/11/2021 21:18

I had ligament pain from around 20 weeks, it was crippling all the way to pretty much the end of pregnancy. If you're ever worried tho do get checked out x
