Pregnancy after 3 recurrent miscarriages

Hi everyone I’m currently pregnant 11+5 after 3 recurrent miscarriages. I had a chemical pregnancy in May 2020, a missed miscarriage at 14 weeks in November 2020 and a miscarriage in May 2021. I have had 4 Scans so far with the early pregnancy clinic (as part of my care plan) and so far everything looks great, however i cannot shake the anxiety of having another missed miscarriage! I haven’t had an appointment for my dating scan yet as the maternity unit said the waiting list is really long! I didn’t know if anyone could help or have any success stories to help me remain positive :)

Currently cuddling 12 day old baby, my first baby after three miscarriages ❤️

I’m in the exact same boat! Currently 11+3 after one mc, one blighted ovum and one mmc since January 2020. All currently looking okay but hard not to be constantly anxious! Hope it's fourth time lucky for us both :)

Brenna24 · 06/11/2021 13:06

My 4th pregnancy after 3 miscarriages is now 3 years and 10 months old and licking her lunch plate clean. Best of luck.

ChinChilly · 06/11/2021 15:50

I'm in the same boat too, had 3 MC 2 early ones and a MMC, got a BFP yesterday two weeks before my appointment and the recurrent miscarriage clinic, thankfully they are still going to see me and give me extra scans.

@HJB97 that scan is lovely, clear leg stretch 😍 are you doing anything different this time?

HJB97 · 06/11/2021 15:57

@Brenna24 & @Deeno123 That’s so reassuring to hear! @ChinChilly & @itssquidstella I really hope the best for you both! It’s been such a hard journey so far and the anxiety is just getting on top of me! The recurrent miscarriage clinic prescribed me progesterone pessaries until 12 weeks which I’m due to stop in a couple of days, that thought is also terrifying me! The midwife has also upped my folic acid to 5mg and prescribed me vitamin D. I have been taking 75mg of aspirin since conception, which I was also told won’t do any harm, so fingers crossed these are all good things 🤞🏼 X

@HJB97 Ahh that's good, I haven't been given anything at the moment I asked about progesterone and asprin but because I haven't had my initial appointment with them yet they won't prescribe anything, I'll be 6+4 by the time i have my appointment so hopefully i can hold out until then.

itssquidstella · 06/11/2021 16:55

@HJB97 I'm also taking progesterone and aspirin! The recurrent miscarriage clinic have been brilliant and scanned me three or four times, but they've discharged me now. Had my Harmony testing on Thursday so really hoping for a positive result from that. I think if the results are clear and I have a successful NHS 12 week scan (which won't be till I’m nearer 14 weeks), I might start to feel like it's actually happening!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you - when is your next scan/appointment?

HJB97 · 06/11/2021 18:55

@ChinChilly I hope they get something sorted for you, I feel like the progesterone and aspirin has definitely helped but I can’t be 100% sure! @itssquidstella that sounds identical to me! I haven’t had my appointment through for my 12 week scan yet as they said the waiting list is really long, with my MMC I was 14+2 weeks at my 12 week scan so I really hope I don’t have to wait too much longer, it’s definitely adding to my anxiety.. my next midwife appointment is booked for Friday 10th December 🤞🏼 X

@HJB97 I'm not sure whether to start asprin off my own back, but don't want to get told off at my first appointment 😂 the nurse I spoke to said they only really give progesterone to women who have spotting and I've never had any spotting with any of my pregnancies... have to wait and see what happens on the 24th 🤞 keeping everything crossed for you!

HJB97 · 06/11/2021 19:17

@ChinChilly I started Aspirin myself but when I told the midwife she said it wouldn’t do any harm and I might actually need to up my dose after 12 weeks.. I have had spotting in all my pregnancies, but I was told it was prescribed due to the recurrent miscarriages, I have had spotting in this pregnancy, but I had an emergency scan and everything was ok, ironically I was told at the scan that progesterone actually makes everything more sensitive there for you’re prone to bleeding or rupturing a vessel, it’s all so stressful lol! Thankyou! And Fingers crossed for you too! X

Congrstulations and lots and lots of positive vibes. I have a 9 month old in bed after 3 miscarriages. The only thing I did differently was take aspirin but who knows if that helped! I didn't get to attend my recurrent miscarriage clinic because of COVID so I'm not sure if that would have raised any issues.

HJB97 · 06/11/2021 19:43

@SparklyGlasses Thankyou so much! I’m so grateful to hear of your success story. I really hope this is it! Covid was the reason I never got any support with my MMC, even at my scan at 14 weeks I still hadn’t seen a midwife! At least I’m getting more support at the moment x

@HJB97 I know it's so hard to know what to do for the best, i may start the asprin because atleast then I'll feel like I'm doing something

HJB97 · 06/11/2021 19:58

@ChinChilly I totally agree! I only take 75mg per day so it’s not a massive dose. Fingers crossed for you x

I am afraid that all through that 4th pregnancy I was so anxious. It was miserable. On the plus side I was so happy to be in labour and finally get her out to safety that I had the most serene, low pain labour. I actually enjoyed my labour.

joanneligthelm · 12/11/2021 10:27

Hi currently cuddling my 4 month old , with 4 previous miscarriages I was put on 5mg folic, aspirin and progesterone for his pregnancy I also had to have blood thinning injection from 28 weeks.
Coming of the progesterone was a worrying time for me but by 12 weeks the placenta should of taken over production. I was tapered off the pessaries (went to 1 every other day for a week then one every 3 days ) more fore my anxiety than anything else .

HJB97 · 23/11/2021 21:43

Here’s an update had my 12 week scan yesterday at 14 weeks. Baby is measuring perfectly due 24/05/22 ❤️ Thank you so much for all of your help and support everyone x

I had 3 miscarriages one after another then had my daughter (now 3 years) then had daughter number 2 without any issues (now 9 months) with both successful pregnancies I took 75mg aspirin until about 30 weeks. The anxiety never went away and I didn’t enjoy the pregnancies due to constant worrying but i now have 2 amazing healthy daughters. Sending you positive thoughts x

HJB97 · 20/02/2022 12:58

Hi @DaringtoDream- I am now 27 weeks pregnant. It’s going really quick but I feel really awful saying I’m not enjoying my pregnancy at all. The constant worry and anxiety is so hard. I am expecting a little boy. I can’t wait for him to be here in my arms now 💙
