Does anyone know what you're allowed to take for constipation when pregnant? I'm 8 weeks and I'm scared to take something I'm not supposed to!
Thanks

Ask the pharmacist, I think you can have movicol type stuff

Also diet - eat lots of fruit and veg, avoid too much bread and potatoes and other starches. Have lots of water and a bit of dried fruit. I also used to have flax seed soaked in water, it makes this slippery stuff that lubricates your passages! Also walking helps, and doing some abdomen-moving exercises like all fours and move your hips in big figures of eight.

Good luck, it's rotten! It can be a problem throughout pregnancy and in early post natal days so it's good to get on top of it.

I found smoothies with some dates in worked quite well

I found hot water with a slice of lemon super helpful as the warm water processes in our intestines better. Fybogel also has a soft laxative effect but best to talk to pharmacist about that x

Lactulose, you have to drink plenty for it too work though.

Magnesium is good for constipation. Different forms of magnesium work differently, I've found. Take it as a supplement or as Epsom Salts in a bath, best just before bedtime.

Senosoft it even says on the box suitable for pregnancy but as with anything ask your doctor midwife and or pharmacist before taken anything
