Measuring behind on early scan.

I’m meant to be 6wks gone today & had a scan ?ectopic. All is well & is in the right place. They’ve said I’m measuring 5wks.

Has anyone had similar & had a positive outcome?

I had a scan at 6 weeks and there was no heartbeat and was measuring ahead of gestation (ivf so absolutely sure of dates). Went back at 7 weeks and had a heartbeat but was measuring behind gestational age. I was told that at that early stage of pregnancy everything is so tiny its really hard for them to know exactly what they are measuring totally accurately but mm make huge differences to 'scan ages'.

I went for a scan at 6 weeks & was dated 4. I was sure of my dates so was sure something was wrong. That little bean is 6 months old & asleep on me as she refuses to sleep in her cot.

I went for a scan at 7 weeks and was measuring a week behind despite me being adamant on dates.
She's 10 months now and wearing size 12-18 months so she's definitely caught up!

I had an early scan due to being unsure on dates because of really irregular periods. They measured me at 6 + 2 with no heartbeat visible and they asked for me to come back a week later to rescan. A week later I returned to be told I was still measuring 6 + 2 but a heartbeat was visible this time!

I'm now 16 weeks and all is well so far. They told me at those really early stages it can be quite difficult to get accurate dates.

This happened me. The GP calculated me at 8/9 weeks but I knew I was a little behind as I've PCOS so early scan had me at 7w4d
Everything has been good since and I'm now 21 weeks. Are you sure of your dates OP?

This is really common. The scans simply are not that accurate early on. Both because everything is tiny. Also because not everyone gets pregnant on day 14 of their menstrual cycle. The later scans...around 20wks or so are very accurate.

My last period was the 23/9 @Maighread although from posting I think I ovulated later in my cycle.

It’s D Day tomorrow & my nerves are shot to shit.

I can't advise on how to ease anxiety much cause I'm built 90% anxiety but hopefully you can lose yourself for a few hours journalling or colouring or doing something mindful xx

Congratulations!! I've been thinking about you this morning, I'm so happy for you!

With this pregnancy I had a scan at 8 weeks and was measuring 6w3d and began panicking despite a strong heartbeat. Just had my 20 week scan yesterday and everything is looking good and healthy so don’t panic too much about very early scans.

Had it go both ways...
6 days behind with twins, they caught up with lmp by dating scan.
6 days behind with a singleton, miscarried a week after the scan.

Aw that's good news! Did your dates change again at all? I had the same at my scan last weekend, 7 weeks based on LMP but measuring at 6 weeks, I'm still so anxious, dunno whether to go for another scan.
