Hello! First time mum here and I have a few questions .. when is the best time to decide where you want to give birth?

And specifically one for fellow Hampshire people, what are your experiences of giving birth in Hampshire hospitals? Any good reviews or bad ones? I’m still new to the area so don’t have any friends or family to draw from on this.

Thanks in advance!

Elective c section in Basingstoke 2.5 years ago, it was wonderful, they were wonderful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Basingstoke.

@Squaretoe thank you! That’s actually our closest hospital. How hard was it to get an elective c section and can you remember how far along you were when you had to decide?

I had already had two - in a different hospital - so they were keen for me to have another one, but you should be okay. What would be your reason for having one?

@Squaretoe down to personal choice

I’m Basingstoke based too and found the hospital very good when I had dd 2 years ago.
I was induced, they tried for a week and was left to myself, but it was my choice to be left alone. Had DH with me and wasn’t really doing anything. They would pop there head and ask if I’m all right as I was never buzzing or asking for them. Told them I’m good, just going for my walks and chatting on my way passed. Induction didn’t work and ended up with a planned emergency c section.
After my section they would check on me, because they worked out I have a high pain threshold and would just put up with it. I had my own room and couldn’t have happier with my care.
They are so rushed off there feet I think they were glad of someone who only asked them thing when they really needed it.
Due to have my second in December and I’m having an elective c section, all booked and ready to go.
My only problem I had was with the food, I have food allergies and the kitchen apparently has trouble understanding that. Mum ended up bring me food up.
