Depends on the amounts in the other tablets.

As the other poster says it's all about the dosage and is dependent on the advice of your doctor.

A higher dose of folic acid than pregnacare is not recommended as there is an association between very high levels of folic acid,b12 and autism.

However, some women do need to take high doses due to deficiencies, genetic disorders or high BMI which is fine.

A separate iron supplement can be taken if recommended by midwife or doctor.

Additional vitamin D can be taken if recommended by a medical professional. The maximum total vitamin D intake safe during pregnancy is 100mg (4000iu)

I take 2000iu of vitamin D but this is under the advice of a doctor.

Folic acid (or Folate) is a water soluble B vitamin - so in theory you should pee any excess out (and in the US for example many pregnant women regularly take 600 mcg - 800 mcg rather than the 400 mcg NHS recommended dosage anyway).

But Iron and Vitamin D3 can build up in the body more easily. However the NHS recommended amounts again tend to be on the lower side. As pp pointed out US doctors often recommend up to 4000iu Vitamin D3 daily and again for example the US Prenatals typically have about 27 mg of Iron compared to our standard 17/18 mg.

Basically as pp suggest - you need to check your total dosages.

I should add though - I wouldn't take more than 800mcg Folic acid, 2000iu Vitamin D3 or 27mg Iron without checking with your Doctor first.

I personally take lower dosages - 600mcg Folate, 1600 iu Vitamin D3 and 18mg Iron (as these are what happens to be in my Pre-Natal).
