Hi all!

I'm 38 weeks and have an appointment with my consultant on Thursday as baby is big and breech, I've refused an ELC so I'm presuming we'll get booked in on Thursday for a section at 39 weeks.

How long were you in for after your section? I'm putting my bags together and I don't know the right amount of stuff to take, nappies for baby, pads for me, all that jazz.

I've no idea how much of things I'll need and I really don't want to over pack x

Home the next day!

Check your trust’s policy but mine is home within 24hrs - they call it enhanced recovery. I’d pack enough for a two night stay.

I had my fourth c section 8 weeks ago. It was an elective at 37+4.

I was first on the list for the day and had my baby at 9.50am, and we came home at 5pm the following day.

I took 2 sleepsuits and 2 vests in newborn, up to one month, and 0-3 month sizes, purely because I had GD and didn’t know how big baby would be. As it was he was 7lb 5oz and even the newborn stuff swamped him. I took 12 nappies which was enough, a pack of water wipes, one blanket, a couple of muslins and a hat. I took a whole pack of maternity pads for me.

I was home 36 hours after surgery. So one night.

And I think much of that was its my second baby so didn't want to stay for extra breastfeeding help (with my first I stayed in for 3 nights after a natural birth but a non feeding baby).

Couple of practical things to take for going home - slip on shoes (I walked out in flip flops in January) an outfit that is loose and easy to put on (or your partner put on) and a cushion for the car (place on wound) to protect from the seat belt.

Take supplies for 2 days in and have an overflow bag in the car.

Also recommend having snacks and drinks. I took juice cartons for the morning as tea round wasn't until 8.30 am! With my first you got your evening meal at 5.30pm.

I had a section last week. It was my choice if i wanted to stay a second night but I was happy to come home after 1 night so needed very little.

I had packed for a couple of nights and had packed a spare case for the car.
