Hello

I had my first appointment with the midwife, they asked me to take a urine sample which I did and they saw blood in the urine when they put it under the microscope
I haven't noticed any blood just a little yellow discharge now I am concerned as I'm not sure what the blood is that they saw has anyone experienced something like this?

Blood in urine can be a symptom of a urinary tract infection or kidney problems. (It can also be a contaminated sample if you have peed shortly after having sex and had a little bleed - this happens all the time from friction). While it is best to get it checked out, it isn’t necessary cause for alarm at this stage. Mostly these things resolve themselves.

Try not to worry about it, bleeding in pregnancy is more common than you would think and the fact you're not getting much out is a good sign too.

As above it could be a UTI, especially with also getting yellow discharge. It could also be old blood or if you've had sex recently it can cause bleeding too. There's loads of other reasons aswell that can cause bleeding but aren't cause to worry.

Easier said than done but try not to worry and hopefully the midwife will get back to you soon to let you know what it's been!
