Hi everyone I'm new to this page and would like some advice if possible please I found out a week ago I'm pregnant done that many tests it's unreal including a clear blue which stated I was 2-3 weeks ever since testing I've been bleeding red blood only when I wee and wipe but I've been concerned so I went to the early pregnancy unit last Thursday they done my hcg levels the was 45 when they contacted me Friday morning, I then went in Sunday to the hospital as concerned probes being over paranoid they dome my bloods them and they was 46 so in 2 days it went up by 1 all my tests are still coming up dark as ever but the early pregnancy unit rang me yesterday and said I poss misscaeried or miss carrying but thn said they wouldn't normally test 2 days apart because how early I am n like to do hcg levels then so there just going by that has anyone else ever had the same problem and still be pregnant n suffered with low hcg level but eventually risen I feel like they've got this all wrong x

HCG should be doubling every day or two at the start. What matters is rapid increase shown in two consecutive blood tests.

HCG may be present but if it’s not rising the embryo isn’t growing and developing as it needs to and the pregnancy isn’t viable.

Hard to hear but inescapable sadly.

I’ve been there. Sorry. Flowers

Only caveat to this is have you passed the due date of your period?

I’ve had IVF and they do two blood tests over two days to confirm pregnancy, but not until 14 days after ovulation day.

You might have a positive urine test earlier but they won’t do blood tests until then, and it’s from there point HCG at least doubling that they are looking for to confirm a developing embryo. Prior to the due date things might be different.

My period is due around this week so I'm only early the nurse said they dont normal do levels 2 days apart so I'm confused xx

It’s too early to know then.

I know it’s hard but you just have to wait.

Until recently it wasn’t possible to test (urine or blood) until after you period was due.

Early positive tests tell you there’s a fertilised embryo. Nothing more. All embryos take time to develop and implant successfully. There’s no way of telling earlier which will or won’t. Bleeding could be a sign of implantation, or that this one isn’t a runner.

To give you an idea, of four embryos transfers I had during IVF that showed rekey positive tests only two made it past the four week / period due date. One stopped developing before 6 weeks. The fourth is now a shouty three year old.

Wait until your due date and if you have a positive urine test then go back for blood tests.

Good luck.

So they could be wrong saying miscarriage happened or happening if that's the case as the bleeding has stopped now it was red watery blood till last night and that's what they went off n the 2 results off the bloods which they said they wouldn't off done so close together xx

It's very hard to know but generally speaking, your HCG level should double or almost double within 48 hours. Taking bloods 2 days apart is standard. If HCG is present then you will continue to get positive tests, it can take a week or more for the HCG to leave your system and tests to turn negative. I would wait it out, although I know how difficult that is, and test again in a weeks time. If it's still clearly positive then contact your EPU again, if it's negative or a faint positive then it's safe to assume you've miscarried. Good luck Flowers

Hi all I wrote a post the other day regarding bleeding and hcg levels I'm waiting on results off my bloods again.....but in the mean time surely if my levels hadn't gone up since last time and the epu saying I've had or having a miscarriage my tests wouldn't be coming up how they are at the moment still as I'm still testing I've officially missed my period the bleeding has completely stopped now x

It’s absolutely pointless doing pregnancy tests.
They tell you nothing.
I was still getting positive pregnancy tests 4 weeks AFTER miscarriages and all bleeding had stopped.
Pregnancy hormones stay in your system weeks after miscarriage so you are incorrect to think that the pregnancy tests should be negative.

You will need to wait and go back for blood tests but even these don’t give you much information.

I'm waiting on my results for the bloods but taking ages x

I know, they do. Feels like forever doesn’t it. It’s awful, very distressing.
