Saggy bottom of bump & lumps..(pic warning)

I’m plus size. My bump has been fairly round all the way through my pregnancy however this week I’ve noticed at the bottom of my bump there’s saggy loose skin. It’s almost like orange peel skin and there’s a far hard lumps in it. It isn’t really painful but does itch occasionally.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I had something like that with my final pregnancy and it was my stomach muscles that had split.

Bananapancakes6 · 31/10/2021 20:45

Oh I have this too. I'm not particularly overweight but it is my second baby and I've always had loose tummy skin from my first (3y ago) mine itches sometimes too. I hadn't really though much of it tbh so interested to see what others say.

ViceLikeBlip · 31/10/2021 20:48

I had really hard, lumpy, scar like stretch marks. Joy!

NovRainbow5 · 31/10/2021 20:53

@TheVolturi did your stomach get better after birth?
@Bananapancakes6 I’m not too worried about the saggy skin. It’s the lumps that gross me out 🙈 I’ve got a midwife appointment Wednesday so I’ll ask her then too and update.
@ViceLikeBlip I wonder if that’s what it is, I’ve got loads of stretch marks but none feel the way these do at the bottom of my bump 😩

I had this with my last! I don't want to worry you, however it arrived around the time I began to get my preeclampsia symptoms (37 weeks) and was part of the excessive swelling symptom! I only know because while I was being induced I was in bed rest and the swelling went away everywhere including my stomach, until I got up for more than 15 minutes then it was back!

If you've noticed any increase in swelling particularly around your face/lips, I'd recommend giving your midwife a phone to double check you bp and urine!

I hope it's just a coincidence and nothing like what I experienced x

@NovRainbow5 the bottom of my bump is also very bumpy! No idea what it is. Doesn't itch, but it is quite noticeable. Do come and update if you find out what it is!

Yes, I had what looks like this. Itchy bump it was PUPPS rash, raised lumps and bumps all over. Have a Google and see if it sounds familiar. Drove me mad with itching and scratching. Try a cold compress if it is that. Good luck!

CurryandSnuggle · 01/11/2021 03:01

I had this and it spread all over in the end, an itchy rash called PUPPP. Hopefully not the case for you but that’s how mine looked initially

@mummabear20202022 thank you, I’ve got no swelling on my face, but I am being monitored as my blood pressure is a little bit higher than it normally is for me. So far all my urine checks have come back fine too but I will keep an eye and if I develop any other symptoms I’ll be ringing the labour ward to get checked out.

@Oodlesofdoodlescockapoodles I will. It’s so strange as the rest of my bump is absolutely fine- it’s just the bottom.

@Wooky8 @CurryandSnuggle thank you both. I’ll have a look and see if it’s similar. It’s not extremely itchy but I’m not sure if the itching is from it rubbing on clothes/chafing

Just thought I’d update. After my midwife appointment yesterday she said it seems to be water retention and the stretch marks that feel lump. She said it’s superficial and will go over time so that was good news. However at my appointment I was sent up to triage by my midwife. I had protein in my urine and my blood pressure was high- something I wouldn’t know if I hadn’t attended my appointment. I have had very mild swelling in my hands and feet. Some days worse than others. Sometimes it goes when I elevate my feet. It hasn’t been “bad” enough for me to be worried about. However I’ve been diagnosed with pre-eclampsia. I’ve had no headaches, no pain under my ribs, no visual disturbance so just thought the swelling was normal. Please don’t feel that your wasting the midwives or drs time- if your worried about something please get it checked out. Luckily they’ve caught it early for me so I have to go back in tomorrow for another check and to make an appointment for induction.
@mummabear20202022 it’s strange how we both had this then both developed pre-eclampsia

Sorry to hear this went the same way as me, I hope the rest of your pregnancy/induction goes as smooth as possible! Good luck 🤞🏻
