Excessive salt intake

Hi guys. I may be being ridiculous (I hope I am!) But I am currently 9w 2d pregnant and had five guys for lunch yesterday. Thing us, I put WAY too much salt on the fries to the point where they were basically coated in salt and only ate half because they were so unpleasant.
I'm worried that my placenta may have already taken over and I could've poisoned my baby. Surely excess salt like that can harm a tiny 9wk fetus?? I have a scan on Tuesday and I'm terrified. Especially since I have zero bump and aren't feeling sick anymore. I look a bit squishier overall but I think that's down to me being much less active lately. Did anybody else just not look pregnant at 9 weeks?

A one off bit of extra salt is not going to harm either of you. Prolonged excess salt is obviously not good though so watch your intake from now on

You won’t have a bump at 9 weeks. If you have a ‘bump’ at 9 weeks, it’s bloat. You won’t have a bump until about 20 weeks. You likely don’t feel sick because your placenta has taken over now. One bad meal isn’t going to affect anything. Especially one bad meal you couldn’t even finish because of the taste.

I'm just a bit worried because I swear I started to feel less sick at about 8.5 weeks-isnt that too early? It was never full on or throwing up anyway tho

Everyone and every pregnancy is different. Last time I was quite sick right up until about 13 weeks, this time hardly sick at all. It’s totally normal to have no bump at 9 weeks - I didn’t show at all until around 20 weeks.

I never felt sick with either of mine; only had retching issues when brushing my teeth

The placenta taking over tends to mean less sickness.

I didn't get a bump till 20 weeks.

I'm not sure your body would let you ingest enough salt to effect the foetus, you would likely start vomiting. Salty fries are 100% not going to cause problems, it doesn't work like that: it would be the salt negatively effecting you and that having a knock on effect, not like the salt magically passes through the placenta. Really don't worry about it.

You will be ok @Missnicolinda96 🥰 Love a Five Guys for a treat, although do find their chips are already super salty!! If you have another just avoid the salt. Don't worry x

I’ve never read anything, ever, that suggests salty food causes miscarriage. If in doubt, look it up on the NHS site.

Nobody looks pregnant by 9 weeks, if they do it's just temporary bloat. It could be 20-28 weeks before you have a bump OP, don't be stressing about that as early as 9 weeks.
